I have mixed feelings about this, on one hand he was a murderer, on the other hand he was practically formed into one by the CIA during years of experimental torture.

He was also one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. Forget the conclusions he drew from his epiphanies, read his books for his insight, there is none more prescient on how technology impacted and will continue to impact western life.

RIP. I don't condone his violent actions or see eye to eye with him on everything, but he has been borderline prophetic. A very wise man.

And yes, the evil CIA did conduct warped experiments on him, and others.

Hope he found God.

Not defending this guy. I have not read any of his stuff, but I will point out that so was King David and Paul aka Saul the apostle killer. Murderer to redemption stories are good.

This guy probably falls under this version though: They say Mohamed was a reasonable guy, until he wasn't .

you have to have your cake before you can eat it.

otherwise you cannot reach it.

The saying means you can't eat your cake and still possess it to be used later.

Once it is consumed its gone.

He was a victim of MKULTRA.

As a minor and early teen at Harvard an MK Ukyra scientist used drugs, aversion therapy, electrocution, and emotional torture to **** with his mind.

That being said, his childhood behavior exhibited antisocial and borderline sociopathy..

Whether or not he would have become a mass murderer if he had not been the victim of the CIA and MKUltra is debatable.

There are alot of highly productive psychopaths in society. Most CEO's are.

Went to Harvard as a teen. Because of his age and intelligence he had no peers and was abit of a social pariah.

A psychologist at Harvard who was in the MKUltra program befriended him and convinced him to take part in the program. Then used the fact that he was Ted's only friend to manipulate him into being a test subject for torture and further isolate him from anyone who might have been a peer.

The ******* basically groomed him and could do so because of Ted's low social awareness and the fact that Ted was a vulnerable youth.

I definitely agree that most big business CEO's, politicians, and Hollywood types are psychopaths. Many with hyper narcissistic personality disorder.

The story goes that he was a big stickler for this phrase and would correct everyone who said it wrong. His brother contacted the CIA after reading it in his manifesto. Everyone says it backwards.

Life expectancy has gone up dramatically as has quality of life. Women no longer have to have 12 pregnancies in order to get a couple of children to live to adulthood. You will likely not due of something as simple as diabetes, vitamin deficiency, or pneumonia.

On the negative side- more people have been killed in wars since the revolution. Depression rates have skyrocketed as has suicide. It seems like we hate ourselves more than ever.

Double edged sword.

I would argue that quality of life peaked in the 80's and 90's…when had sufficient technology, but not enough to handicap us mentally or divide us.

Depression, suicide, prescription drug dependency and alcohol and hard drug addiction, as you mentioned, are at all time highs and likely will only get much worse. Young people are forgoing marriage and real relationships at alarming rates. Most people are literally addicted to their phones.

I think it could be argued that, even with its benefits, the internet was maybe the worst thing to happen to mankind. We were never going to be the same after that.

Very few children today will even get a slight taste of the happiness, freedom and adventure we experienced as 80's and 90's children. They will be slaves/addicts to technology and to their over protective fearful parents. I am hellbent on making sure this is not the case for mine.

Go watch videos of spring breakers in the 80's and 90's. Not a single technological device in sight, just people vibing together and connecting organically and nothing but smiles.

Yep, it was a Golden Age looking back on it.

The internet and social media riding piggyback on that will be our downfall.
