In my opinion Pat Buchanan was the last best hope for the GOP and a vision for what America once was and should be. I am very glad that he is gaining popularity once more in his twilight years among the young right wing crowd.

He's conflating race with nationality. Yeah someone from Germany would probably assimilate into American culture easier than an immigrant from an Asian or African country, though with how much this board *****es about the current state of American culture I'm not sure why you would think this is automatically a good thing. Due to personal experience I'm probably more predisposed to thinking I'll have more in common and get along better with someone from Nigeria than a Western European country. But where I believe the flaw in the quote he gave is I don't think there is any evidence this is due to an individuals actual race. If a black or Asian person was a 3rd generation German national, do you think they would assimilate worse than a white person from Germany?

Pat Buchanan was staunchly against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for very practical reasons. He was proved right.

He also said a nation couldn't survive without a common religion and culture. Does anyone refute this?

Western white liberals are some of the most evil and perverse people to ever exist. They are intentionally wrecking Western Civilization, whether they fully realize it or not.

My plan would be to overhaul the immigration process. Secure and maybe militarize the southern border. Be very strict about the types we let in. But let in a ton of vetted Christian nuclear families from Mexico, Central and South America, along with Eastern Europe. We need good people with traditional family values. White liberals hate the nuclear family and traditional values.

White liberals have turned us into one of the most evil and perverse nations to ever exist and that is the only way to correct course imo. If someone else knows another way, I am all ears. It also helps that the modern white liberal is hellbent on finding any way they can to eliminate themselves from the gene pool.

Think about it, Bob Dole nor George HW Bush were open borders, heck Slick Willie, Algore and even Barry Sotero later claimed to be in favor of strong borders.

Pat was perhaps a great speech writer in his day, entertaining TV type, and then sometimes even a good orator but was not…unifying enough in any way, or capable of even pulling together a solid campaign/strategy to win as a candidate for higher office (and of course he just wanted the top office first). I really don't think he's a bigot but some of his analogies/word choices were…well not good, in that day or this.

What conservatives need to do is develop a message that actually can be delivered to help folks in cities (who, oh by the way, are predominantly not Anglo), through their policies. The policies are actually there, especially by comparison to the WEF-communists, but the messaging/delivery…is not.

Buchanan's autobiography "Right from the Beginning" is an epic tome.

His other epic tome is his 1984 editorial, "Gay Times and Diseases" published in the American Spectator. I wish someone could find that editorial and copy and paste it here.

Conservatives "best strategy" is to always capitulate in an attempt to win over voters that want to erase the foundation of the culture and state. Meanwhile the left takes an issue that about .1% of the population is in favor of and uses their power to ram it down everyone's throat.

Start taking a page out of their book. You don't make your tent bigger. You force people into it and brainwash them into thinking anyone outside the tent is morally reprehensible. That's how democracy works in the age of mass media propaganda, and you can either play that game or watch the generation under you turn into zealots for the other side

I often wonder how many 3rd generation German nationals are black or Asian.

Him and Ron Paul are the reason I got into politics. Suicide of the West was the first big political book I read.

I do think a common race helps the assimilation process, but it isn't absolute. The density of immigration is far more important. Take a million immigrants and spread them evenly across the nation, and they will assimilate just fun. Take a million immigrants and dump them all in a section of a large metro area and they will likely never assimilate. That is the biggest problem with mass illegal immigration, too many large clusters of foreigners end up in a ghetto and you end up with non-American subcultures and all the problems that come with it.

I don't think your post is as thought-provoking as you clearly do. Apologies.

Race isn't the issue. It's culture and ideology that's the problem. Take 2 different cultures with extreme differences of economic standing, religion, etc and try to mix them together and you'll have problems until they blend together. And there's no guarantee they'll stay blended together either though. Just look what's happening between the left and the right in America.

African Americans are assimilated.

They certainly aren't acting like Africans. Most know nothing of that heritage. And the cultural problems they have certainly arent passed down from Africa.

Thomas Sowell is the best on the subject...

Sub Sharan Africa is largely a mess as a continent so is African American culture there are definitely similarities between the two.

Poor example on your part. Based on US history I don't think going back 5 or 10 generations would be all that helpful to assimilating.

You can even evaluate cultures within different African regions or countries. Nigeria's is far superior to somalia's despite both being black countries.
