EVs will not match ICE capabilities

Except for many of Americas drivers they already have
We have differing definitions of "many"...

Most American drivers use their vehicles for commuting and take road trips of less than 500 miles.

And most of them aren't driving EVs, and relatively few want to.

Most don't have a car that's had limited supply and only recently somewhat affordable? I'm shocked.

And does 34% count as "relatively few"?

Yeah, polls like that are so reliable. And one third isn't all that great for "would consider" given the hype and govt push.

You're talking about people who maybe would buy an EV in the future. What percentage of cars on the road are electric right now?

His academic bio. Masters from oxford in Electrical Engineering. He's no dummy. From wikipedia: "

After receiving top grades in science A levels, he secured a place at Newcastle University, where he received a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In 1975, he continued for the degree of MSc in Electrical Engineering at The Queen's College, Oxford, the same college where his father matriculated in 1935, and which made Atkinson an Honorary Fellow in 2006. His MSc thesis, published in 1978, considered the application of self-tuning control.

Y'all keep bringing phones into the conversation.

I just recently got a new iPhone. There was nothing wrong with the old one. It still functioned just fine.

Other than the fact that the battery would no longer hold a charge…

As time goes and the batteries go out many more people will realize the same thing.
I see a lot of young black chicks driving Teslas in Houston lately. Seems they're starting to make the switch over from Mercedes C-300. Wish I could be a fly on the wall when some of these i-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t ladies find out they have to fork over $20-30k for a new battery or sell their car for a fraction of what they thought it was worth.
They are going to have to raise the rental rate on that gash.

That was the primary demographic and make/model my cousin used to sell to when he was at Greenway Plaza.

Maybe they're getting better lease terms on Teslas now.
Ha, I used to eat at the Potbelly on occasion and sit outside when the weather was nice, right across the street from that dealership over the period of a few years. I believe your cousin. From my observation, it was mostly a certain demographic buying/leasing the base models, and then tons of ME/Asian/Indians buying the big fancy ones.

Off topic. Is Potbelly good?

With reference to the linked article, government mandate of our future transport options doesn't look to have been the best approach ? Whodathunkit.

Yep, that's a good one. I never thought I would enjoy a heated Tuna melt sandwich, but their tuna salad w/ cheddar on wheat (w/ all toppings but deli mustard) might be my fav sandwich.
