I just love this scene. So well done.

I'm not sure that is actually historically accurate though-

the first drops over Normandy seemed to begin around midnight and the link Eric posted was discussing the first plane taking off with it's lights on in the dark

which seems insane to have 2,000 airplanes taking off over England in the dark

amazing pilots and planning

You're welcome. I always like listening to some of these broadcasts.

There are a lot more for other events in World War II. One problem with them is that there tend to be lots of repeats.

I also have some Jean Shepherd shows in which he talks about his time in the military in World War II. Those are some really great stories. If I remember correctly, when he first entered the military, they sent him to a radio school at the University of Chicago where he was mixed in with scientists that were apparently working with nuclear energy prior to Los Alamos although he didn't know that at the time.

Jean Shepherd was also the author of A Christmas Story which he used to read on the air every Christmas long before it was made into a movie.

I had meant to bump this thread around midnight but was unable to do so.

Great way not to forget this moment in history. All of this and more should be required listening and reading for every young American before turning 18.

Great list you've compiled here.

what's incredible is that maybe 2% of Americans even know about all these events which occurred on December 7

most think just Pearl Harbor was bombed.

listening to this you can hear it is very similar to 9/11/2001 where continuous reports are coming in for hours of different attacks with mass confusion

burma
thailand
Manila
Hawaii
transport ship torpedoed
