Unlike the GOP, the DNC is very sharp and organized when it comes to this sort of thing. They will absolutely bury him if he shows any remote sign of being an actual threat to the voter base and the anointed candidate.

Frederick Douglass was an incredible man who overcame real adversity as an escaped slave that achieved great things through hard work. I don't know why it stuck in my mind but I recall hearing NPR's music critic review Cornel West's hip hop album circa 2002 as if it was some serious and significant piece of music. It was comical almost like an SNL parody because the NPR audience is mostly white liberal jazz and classical music listeners and the critic was trying to convince them that their favorite race baiting Marxist academic was about to climb the hip hop charts. West's own description of his album was like listening to Kim Jong-Il describe his golfing skill and being able to score a hole in one at will.

The thing that makes Cornel West so funny is that he actually believes the narrative that if it were not for white oppression, the economic fortunes of the black community would just naturally rise like a helium balloon.

West is a clown that the left loves to invite to every public stage but, they aren't going to want him on the stage of Presidential politics. There is only room for one clown on that stage and the Democrat Party doesn't like third party competitors for the true believer Marxists. They hate having to run to the right of guys like Cornel West or Ralph Nader. Joe Biden simply couldn't do that if he was reading from cue cards (which he is).
