For reference that would be less than a bite of steak PER DAY. Even a tiny chicken breast would be well over the new "recommendation".

I enjoyed all sorts of sausages over there. The street vendors kept things simple too, nothing terribly fancy. Meat in a roll and you can slap some mustard on it if you want. Those guidelines will get ignored just like ours do.

A few weeks ago an 80+ year old couple - who my wife stayed with when she spent a summer there during college - came to visit us and we took them to the Salt Lick. They took photos of the pit and their plates.

Nice to know they'll have a lasting memory of Texas.
