Musk not eligible.

In all seriousness I am hearing more Youngkin stuff lately for DeSantis but it is way, way, way too early for any of that.

Damn I forget that he's a foreigner since he's Americaning it up so much!

Desantis doesn't need Kemp to win Georgia.

Sununu would be much better strategic pick for someone as conservative as Desantis. Youngkin as well.

Double governor ticket with one of the govs being from a state the GOP has struggled in lately, but not historically would be my play

"This is one of the most out-of-touch campaign launches in modern history. The only thing less relatable than a niche campaign launch on Twitter, is DeSantis' after party at the uber elite Four Seasons resort in Miami.

Every day more and more Americans are realizing just how out of step Ron DeSantis is with their values and how unelectable he really is. From his votes to cut Social Security and Medicare, to his support of a national sales tax that would raise taxes on 90% of families, to his vote in support of Obama's TPP which sent jobs to China, to his vote against funding for President Trump's wall, Ron DeSantis just isn't ready to be President. President Trump is ready on day one to turn our country around, reverse Biden's disastrous policies and make America great again." --- Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc.

There was a thread about 2-years ago where people were predicting how hard they were about to come after Desantis.

Take a moment to read the post above yours. Sorry he's not going on Rachel Maddow show to announce.

Look at the post right above yours. This is exactly why to announce on Twitter. Time to treat the MSM exactly the way they deserve to be treated.

It's a simple matter of controlling the narrative.

Are you going to roll-over and play the MSM's game on their field with their refs and let them decide what the score is? Or are you going to make them come into your stadium and play with your ball and by your rules?

It's also very original and more interesting. If he did a traditional speech launch very few people would watch it and they would just see the clips of him saying "I am announcing I am running for President..." Elon Musk interviewing him on Twitter with an open forum of questions afterward though? THAT is worth watching and it will create clips that will go viral.

DeSantis needs people to hear him and he is exceptional in long form interviews like this because he is definitely a policy wonk. He knows his stuff and can communicate it.

On a side note, Trump is making a big mistake by responding so loudly to everything DeSantis as done for the last month. He's not only turning a lot of people off he is also creating interest for others because at some point people want to know more about who this guy is.

Seems to be good with finances a la Alex Murdaugh. Responsible for unsecure elections in Georgia in 2020 despite having responsibility for the election process before becoming governor.

Add in his near loss to Stacey Abrams followed by a critical 0 for 4 in Senate races that allowed Dems to have power beyond measure, the dude is solid.

But really, knowing you support him is by far the biggest reason showing the dude is a total RINO.

Trump has to get his sycophants like Jack Posobiec to tweet stuff out since no one but his cult followers read Truth Social.

Then again, almost everyone following JP are the same Trump cultists.

It's the best way to get to those who live and breath politics 24/7. He needs to get any advantage he can to pull Anyone he can say from Trump to get the nomination in the primary, and this is the best way to do it.

Now, when the vast majority of people start paying attention, then, of course, he'll go to the traditional route. That's the only way to win the general. For now, though, he needs to go to the same well where primary voters are.

one hope that may occur is that DeSantis can surprise to the upside.

maybe 10% of the American public have even heard him speak for a total of five minutes.

once people start hearing his actual legislation and the reasoning behind them- he may gain more strength by the day.

not to mention his own personal backstory and family.

Is it? The biggest podcasts dwarf the ratings of any traditional media program. That's essentially what Elon wants Twitter spaces to be. Video podcasts. Add in Elon himself and I will bet he gets comparable numbers to any CNN or Fox segment.

Now whether more people who will actually end up voting see it or not is a different question, you may indeed be better served by going the traditional route for that. Would be an interesting case study.

I agree, it's interesting time to see what is the best way to reach out to the average voter who doesn't start paying real attention to politics until a few months, if not close to a year, from now.

Youngkin would make sense as far as getting Virginia in play as a swing state if he maintains his popularity. Think he is sitting at like 58% approval rating which is pretty damned good when you consider the number of D voters in Virginia.

He definitely needs to find someone popular in a swing state that doesn't have a massive persona that turns off some voters. He needs a Joe Lieberman type of running mate.
Brian Kemp is a low key Lieberman type steady Eddie that would deliver Ga., but that may be too many SE State guys on one ticket. Tim Scott may be an interesting play for the AA vote.
Brian Kemp would be a weird choice. Typically you choose someone from your own party.

Kemp may be ideal for you and other Democrats, but his liberal swamp arse is a hard no for me.

I cannot get comfortable with Scott speaking. I like his story, but when he gets excited he gets like that dude from years back with the screaming video.
Name ONE liberal thing he's done other than not fellate the loser Orange Man when called upon to do so. ONE

All he needs is the cowboy hat and he looks like Cornyn...

Boy have times changed I remember about a year and a half ago, and before that Kemp was a hated man on here I went to a party and met Kemp during that time and got completely annihilated bashed for it

This is a really smart strategy. The MSM will never be friendly to a Republican candidate, and the best way to reach numbers now is through social media. To a degree the media can dictate the messaging by the questions they chose to ask. No need to give them the opportunity. Get on a platform where you control the narrative.

Republicans always take flak for not using media to their advantage, but it appears this next crop of Republicans understands well how to take advantage of it. DeSantis is going to resonate with a lot of folks, including the younger audience. I still believe the loud mouthed left wingers are in the minority, and if a Republican like DeSantis can cut through the constant lies and chattering he can win a sizable block of the younger generation. Twitter is the perfect platform to do it.

In some ways this goes back to Ross Perot. Perot went completely unconventional in his strategy (prior to the internet) and bought blocks of time for him to speak in detail about his plans. He had charts and talked about balancing the budget. He talked about NAFTA and the "Giant sucking sound" of jobs leaving. At first it was ridiculed but then he got very popular. Had he not dropped out and then came back he honestly probably would have won (and picking Stockton as his VP). He had the lead when he dropped out. His main mission though was to make sure Bush didn't win.

Point being though that doing unconventional things that allow people to learn about you can be highly effective. Don't make it a gimmick, make it a new and better way to deliver information and give people insight into your campaign.
