Musk not eligible.

In all seriousness I am hearing more Youngkin stuff lately for DeSantis but it is way, way, way too early for any of that.

Good move on DeSantis' part. I wonder how long Trump can stay off of Twitter?

Youngkin would make sense as far as getting Virginia in play as a swing state if he maintains his popularity. Think he is sitting at like 58% approval rating which is pretty damned good when you consider the number of D voters in Virginia.

He definitely needs to find someone popular in a swing state that doesn't have a massive persona that turns off some voters. He needs a Joe Lieberman type of running mate.

This is so cool.

Humble brag, or not really a brag, just right place at the right time I guess. My wife's cousin was a career USMC pilot/officer and then went in to business with a couple of other Ags he was in the corps with, that were also career pilots (USN). Their primary customer is Space X.

So my wife's cousin had an event going on my ranch and had to step out for a zoom call with Space X. I set him up and was just kind of in the background in the kitchen. He looks back at me and says "hey you want to meet Mr Musk?" Of course I run over there and Elon is leaning in on a table with his face right in the camera and he says "hi, how are you "Urban Ag?" And I replied "I am great sir, nice to meet you Mr Musk". He laughs and says "Elon, my name is Elon. So <my wife's cousin> says you're hanging out on a ranch in Texas, that sounds fun. Have a great Christmas. I have big plans for Texas. I like that place".

Brian Kemp is a low key Lieberman type steady Eddie that would deliver Ga., but that may be too many SE State guys on one ticket. Tim Scott may be an interesting play for the AA vote.

I like the idea of doing it on Twitter. Especially with Musk, who's been the champion of free speech for the last two years or so. Time to shake up the whole MSM model.

Don't need a moderate democrat "type". Need a solid conservative with a backbone

Clinton and Gore were from adjacent SE states. Things worked out Ok for wild Bill

Finally, don't be naive about Scott getting the AA vote. He got what, 7% in SC? He'd be a great running mate, but not because he would get black voters to vote Republican

Together they have qualities that appeal to almost all the Rs; desantis is conservative and elon is a successful version of Trump

Being the master chess player, Elon did pat Scott on the back and offered support with his announcement, and now standing in RD's corner. Maybe he envisions a DeSantis/Scott ticket as well. Why not?

Edit: Hard to imagine the x multiplier involved with the increase in IQ over what is in office now. Eleventy billion?

FWIW I would be shocked if Elon endorses anyone at this stage. He is trying to encourage free speech and taking a side this early will make a lot of folks assume he is going to bias towards that person.

I agree with this. I'm also concerned about the overall appearance. I hope they put a lot of thought into it. If it comes off like a zoom call or something, then I think it could get awkward.

This is another great move for DeSantis. Announcing on a huge platform for free speech with possibly the most popular, wealthiest figure on the planet. Two known doers and winners. A subtle reminder of an out of the box thinker that stays five steps ahead of his opponents and gets things done.

Brian Kemp would be a weird choice. Typically you choose someone from your own party.

Kemp may be ideal for you and other Democrats, but his liberal swamp arse is a hard no for me.

I cannot get comfortable with Scott speaking. I like his story, but when he gets excited he gets like that dude from years back with the screaming video.

DeSantis needs a surge/PR from his announcement, to be sure. This is a good way to get it, imho.

An all out media blitz should also follow, and I think he's plenty capable of doing/handling that as well as anyone else in the country, just hope it goes well. Twitter fits in nicely, especially as Trump has continued to pout about it from afar basically.

Seems to be good with finances a la Alex Murdaugh. Responsible for unsecure elections in Georgia in 2020 despite having responsibility for the election process before becoming governor.

Add in his near loss to Stacey Abrams followed by a critical 0 for 4 in Senate races that allowed Dems to have power beyond measure, the dude is solid.

But really, knowing you support him is by far the biggest reason showing the dude is a total RINO.

This post is BS. Kemp was the first to free his state from covid lockdowns. Fla and Tx followed Kemps lead on that. That was a big deal.

I would be beyond shocked if DeSantis has not thought the matter through and been negotiating exactly how this will work for a while now. My guess is it will be more of a typical format of them in 2 chairs a few feet apart just having a conversation.

It's genius not only because it is original but because it is far more engaging and interesting than a typical stump speech style announcement. This is basically putting him in a situation where he is having to answer questions and talk about policy in a less controlled way and thus people are going to watch. It's going to be must see TV for any political hack and just the curious. My guess is it will also go on for a while and there will be a lot of spontaneity. Some risk with that of course but DeSantis is very good at this stuff.

Also, Musk would be a fool to try and "gotcha" him or make DeSantis look bad. Musk would LOVE for future candidates to follow this model and the way to do that is to allow it to just be a "get to know you" style. That fits with what he wants Twitter to be, a place for free speech and new ideas. Then later he can offer to host debates if he stays neutral enough.
