It's a choice. What do you want the election to be about? Who do you think is focused on leading the country and solving problems? What message is going to resonate with voters to beat the Democrats? Choose as you will but make a conscious choice with your eyes open.

Honestly, DeSantis is missing a big opportunity if he doesn't run an ad that simply shows all of Trump's incoherent, juvenile, rants on "Truth". Nothing else, just show "Truth" after "Truth" and let the average voter actually see how deranged he is these days.

Vivek will talk with anyone. This seems to be the thread to discuss potential presidential candidates. The conversation talks about everything from old world order to climate change to, I mean, it runs the gamut. The beauty is that Vivek holds true to free speech even to folks that may seem volatile. It's incredible what candor and respect will due. It relates to all candidates in knowing more about everyone. Or would you rather this just be the pro Desantis thread. Seems to be the case currently. Change the thread title if you like.

People don't have much disposable income anymore. Tough to raise money grassroots style when the money is drying up. Plus, many already know what he's about. If you believe that people not showing up would be a signal of waning support, look no further than Biden and his 81 million votes. It's the same reason not debating isn't negatively affecting Trump. People are already sold.
Like I said that's possible. It would fly in the face of all conventional wisdom and history but it is possible.

I don't buy the "people don't have disposable income so they aren't donating to Trump" argument though. The people who tend to donate to campaigns always find a way to donate.

Not sure I buy that "people are already sold" and just don't feel the need to show up either. Trump's strength and appeal has always started with his events because of his entertainment personality. It's just weird that folks can't be bothered to show up to hear him yet they support him as much as ever.

It's possible though, polls certainly indicate that.
If people don't have disposable income to donate to Trump's campaign, why are other people finding the money to donate to the other campaigns?

Grassroots is different from super PACs. It's like you're not paying attention. And speaking of not paying attention, I already said I would vote R no matter who the candidate was which sparked my initial question. What does UAS stand for? Uninformed Annoyance Specialist?
People either have the money to donate or they don't. Doesn't matter if it's a super PAC or a candidate.

Thank you for answering the question.

yep- Trumpism is ascendant!
Trump's strategy is trying to jump on both sides of every battle so that he can take the credit and blame others. It's not subtle but somehow a lot of folks can't see it. It's amazing.

Then of course you have stuff like this. Kelly has done some great work on Court reporting for Jan 6 and the Whitmer trials but the blind loyalty and way that they simply accept that Trump not only has a different set of rules than everyone else, those rules must be respected by everyone else.

Trump has Jack Poso going after Youngkin a week before the Virginia elections with the VA Legislature in play. No real reason, just making stuff up. BTW Youngkin wasn't Governor when the statue was taken down and he had nothing to do with any of this.

Great answer on 2A and Red Flag Laws, strong "No" and then pivoting to Mental Health and locking up criminals who commit gun crimes.

She tried to "circle back" and he did a great job of swatting it away. She was trying to get some gotcha quote that they could then play on loop and would spin up Trump and his supporters.

Good job of pointing out that the actual job of the POTUS is to accomplish the goals and promises made.

Yep, you're right. Those pesky polls that are extremely scientific, 100% accurate and prescient, and definitely not bought and paid for by candidate campaigns.

So since you showed up, I'll ask you what I ask every other Trump supporter....besides just pointing to these polls, or shouting "Revenge against the Deep State!", can you give me one reason why 2024 Trump is the best candidate to lead our nation until 2028?

Agreed. Trump voters don't really care about wining the election. At this point they're just voting for him out of spite and to rub it in the eye of the "anti-Trump people" (especially DeSantis supporters.

Well I guess Trump has nothing to worry about then, sounds like it's over. Polls are gospel and no one ever changes their minds either. He's got this!

does bad weather on caucus day help the DeSantis forces or help the Trump forces?

Trump has a smaller hardcore fanatical base

and a larger base of those who are not even involved in politics or following the news other than "liking Trump"

I honestly think it might help Trump given the "inevitable" narrative.

Then again, his statements about not needing to worry about voting could come back to bite him.

Yawn. I called this happening a few months ago. The capitalists are starting to make their move.

Musk and Rogan (two biggest names) are both positioning to throw support behind Trump against whoever the democrat candidate is. Add in Tucker splitting from Fox removing their credibility as the "right news source" and you can see the lines being drawn up.

I'm ready for the show to arrive!

(I think this is a thread standalone worthy topic). Since the DeSantis people will say this isn't about Trump vs Biden.

Well I think the fact that DeSantis doesn't get positive air time from Rogan is kind of the point. He isn't really on normal people's radar.

He's gotten positive air time from Rogan in the past as well. It's not like Rogan is endorsing either of them at this point.

It also doesn't really matter right now if he is on "normal people's radar". What matters is about 150k people in Iowa and about 250k in NH and who is connecting with them and earning their votes. That's a lot harder to tell. Trump is certainly the frontrunner but we will have to see.

Well I guess you are in good shape then. Of course this is a state by state race and Iowa and NH are about organization more than anything. Polls always shift after those 2.

Trump's all good though so nothing to worry about. I mean he said he doesn't need votes anyway.

Polls, polls, polls, polls, polls....you're a broken record. But I guess that's really all Trump supporters have when there's really no other positive for Trump.

I've asked you before, so I'll ask again. Name me one recent positive for why Trump Is the best choice for President in 2024?

LOL, that's funny. You obviously don't listen to Rogan. He has stated often his support for RFK jr. He's said he would vote for Trump before he voted for Biden. That is not the same thing as throwing his support to Trump.

Rogan has been moderately positive to Trump... compared to Biden, but he has had RFKjr on, and 100% that is who he will be supporting. He will not have Trump on even if Trump asked. (Desantis too, for that matter), but counting their support to Trump is typical of the current MAGA camp - take any non-Biden support to mean that Trump is on the ascendancy.

Those polls may be accurate. It's just weird that Trump is drawing such small numbers in both states when he appears. Those places have very politically engaged populations too.

Like I said though, I guess he is in good shape and you have nothing to worry about. Trump should keep posting about "Maggot" and looking for new people to insult. Clearly that is what the people want to hear. Also those polls are solid. I mean at this time in 2015 Ben Carson had a big lead in Iowa and Cruz was in 4th.
