This is what makes me crazy about the Trump crowd. They say anyone but Dems, but then they also have to include "establishment " Republicans. What criteria makes someone an "establishment " Republican? Conveniently, it is any Republican that doesn't support Trump. Circular reasoning at its finest.

How you can ever favor Stacey Abrams o er Kemp is beyond me. Trump sucks.

And Kemp crushed her. Not even close.

It's a dual purpose lie.

It slanders his opponent, which is all he has left to punch back with.

Plus it helps keep the thought of stolen elections at the front if his acolytes' minds so that when Trump gets beat in the Primary or General they automatically attribute it to cheating. The last thing he can afford to do is have his gravy train, err supporters, start to doubt him.

Not only will it be crickets, I'd guess there's a 95% chance it gets brought up by one of the hardcore Trumpers in here as if it's a fact in the next month.

"Then why did destantusz $50 million super PAC shut down and move to Trump???" Etc etc.

Followed by, "Well DeSantis just sucks at getting his message out!" For some reason he couldn't stop the MSM and Trump from pushing a lie.

Trump and his supporters are the true conservatives and real Republicans. Even though Trump isn't conservative and wasn't a Republican until he decided he wanted to be President. Yet, he is the true one and all those that have been fighting for conservative ideals for decades are CMs.

When maga children ask their parents why Trump lost, again in the same states, the parents will say because it was stolen, again, in red states where every other republican that ran for office won.

When a non-maga child asks the same question to their parents, one of the likely responses will be along the lines of, "how much time do you have?"

People conveniently forget Trump's margin of victory went down in nearly all states he won in 2016. It's a trend that will doom us in 2024 if he's the nominee.

A depressing thought occurs to me…

On the present course, neither Trump or DeSantis will be president.
DeSantis is term limited as governor.
There's not really anyone on the GOP bench that's a sure fire successor (maybe Suarez from Miami).

I don't know that I can think of anything more Trump-esque than him deciding to run for governor of Florida in 2026.

Will likely be his Lt Governor or someone else he endorses.

Nunez? I'd be surprised if 25% of Floridians could pick her out of a lineup. She's a Hispanic woman from South Florida… three demographics you need to win the state. And Florida's LtGov is basically a non-entity. The only LtGovs that went on to become governor were because of death or resignation.

The other potential candidates are not recognizable:
The agricultural commissioner (legitimately the second most important position in the state) is Wilton Simpson. I couldn't tell you what he looks like.
The CFO of Florida is Jimmy Patronis. Again, no idea what he looks like, plus the fact that his name sounds like he's an extra from The Sopranos.
Gaetz expressed interest, but he's way too controversial for me.

That leaves Byron Donalds, who just undercut DeSantis over the slavery history curriculum; Ashley Moody (the AG), who looks younger than her 48, and is still somewhat anonymous; or the aforementioned Suarez.

Or, as I fear, an irascible Donald Trump, with the slogan "Make Florida Great Again," and who would somehow make the campaign about him versus DeSantis.

I think the DeSantis endorsement will be key in the race, people like how things are going and they will want whomever he names as his heir apparent.

So a guy is running a major campaign, as an underdog, and his affiliated PAC has the gall to ask wealthy donors for - wait for it - MONEY!

https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/31/politics/desantis-super-pac-audio/index.html

Quote:

DeSantis-aligned super PAC asked for $50 million from donors on day of first GOP primary debate, leaked audio shows

In an urgent appeal to wealthy Republicans who had assembled in Milwaukee ahead of the first GOP presidential primary debate, top brass for the super PAC backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told donors they needed an injection of $50 million over the next four months, according to leaked audio obtained by CNN.

It was a Trump hit, the guy was clearly a Trump supporter and Trump pushed it immediately. It was fake.

And MAGA is still pushing the lie about this faux-PAC every single day.

All of the usual so called "news" sites, which are nothing but Trump mouth pieces, put out 2-3 articles a day about it over and over.

Trump's co-defendants are already starting to turn against him
There's a nascent courtroom strategy by some people close to Donald Trump: Heap blame on the former president.

By JOSH GERSTEIN and KYLE CHENEY 09/05/2023 05:00 AM EDT Politico

The finger-pointing among Donald Trump's inner circle has begun. And as his four criminal cases march toward trials, some of his aides, allies and co-defendants are pointing at the former president.

In court documents and hearings, lawyers for people in Trump's orbit both high-level advisers and lesser known associates are starting to reveal glimmers of a tried-and-true strategy in cases with many defendants: Portray yourself as a hapless pawn while piling blame on the apparent kingpin.

In late August, an information technology aide at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort dramatically changed his story about alleged efforts to erase surveillance video and agreed to cooperate with special counsel Jack Smith, who has charged Trump with hoarding classified documents. The aide, Yuscil Taveras, was not charged in the case, but his flip may help him dodge a possible perjury charge prosecutors were floating and it is likely to bolster Smith's obstruction-of-justice case against Trump and two other aides.

Then, three GOP activists who were indicted alongside Trump in Georgia for trying to interfere with the certification of President Joe Biden's win in the state asserted that their actions were all taken at Trump's behest.

And last week, Trump's former White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows also charged in the Georgia case signaled that his defense is likely to include blaming the former president as the primary driver of the effort.

Man, I did not think that the Trump defendants would turn on him so quickly and significantly.

if this is happening NOW before the trials even start- there is no doubt more will turn once they are really facing serious prison time. Trump will be found guilty of felonies in a court of law. It's that simple.

"Three of them David Shafer, Cathleen Latham and Shawn Still recently said in court filings that nearly all of the charges they face were the result of instructions from Trump and his lawyers.

The three GOP activists all posed as pro-Trump presidential electors, signing documents claiming they were Georgia's legitimate electors even though Biden won the state.

In legal filings seeking to transfer their prosecutions into federal court, they all indicated that they took that step at Trump's "direction."

I literally LOL'ed at that one..

because just when you think we have seen the peak of Trump's destruction of the conservative movement...

he can do even more damage.

on the other hand, Trump will be convicted of felonies by 2026 so I think even Florida won't take him.
