Trump has higher negatives than Biden consistently, that's why he lost in 2020 when he lost Independents 2 to 1 and has done nothing to change that math nor does he seem to plan to.
Out of curiosity, how could he do that, in your view?

And if he did, wouldn't that be pandering?
Calm down the lunatic rants and make an attempt to act professional? Maybe talk about the future and lay out a real vision for how he is focused on fixing the problems of the country instead of wanting revenge and making up names for his opponents?

When Trump is focused and controlled he is actually pretty appealing. He can make a decent case and actually looks somewhat sympathetic because if he looks reasonable then it makes the Democrats calling him a criminal and dangerous and hundred other things look kind of foolish. He's already all in with trying to scream back louder at them though and insult back harder which fires up his base but turns off those independents.

I could probably list a half dozen other things Trump could do (and I pray he does if we are stuck with him as the nominee though it's futile) that wouldn't be pandering. If anything I think what he is doing now is pandering it's just pandering to his base that loves anything that looks like Trump is sticking his middle finger at the Left or really anyone he sees as a threat like DeSantis.

I mean I could be wrong I guess. Maybe those folks who didn't vote for him in '16 and '20 are secretly craving new curses and insults and Trump just hasn't been creative enough or gotten a sick enough of a burn to woo them.

If Trump manages to be the nominee in '24, and if Trump wins the general, it will be because the establishment couldn't employ the same vote-stealing strategies twice…

Which establishment? Republican or Democrat or Uniparty?

Democrats have already gotten favorable voting laws in most of the Swing States and they are lawyered up and investing heavily in their GOTV efforts. They aren't really even bothering to campaign, I mean Biden certainly isn't. It's not really stealing if you just change the laws.

So if that is your premise we are already screwed because Trump isn't going to do anything different and in reality he has less enthusiasm behind him now than in '20. Hell you barely see Trump flags or stickers like you did back then. He's trying to do his rallies in the friendliest Trump areas he can find to keep up the appearance of support.

DeSantis has a completely different strategy and plan focused on beating the Dems at their own game. It worked in '22 even in places like California and NY in the House and it's the best chance we have.

Or we can just do '20 Part II and just accept it has virtually no chance of working and has a very real chance of being a complete disaster where Trump loses huge and drags the downballot with him. I mean can you imagine how unhinged Trump could get in the final weeks if he knows he has no chance of winning? It would make the Georgia runoffs look mild by comparison. If Trump starts telling people that voting doesn't matter because it's all rigged anyway and you have people staying home and quitting there really is no telling how bad it could be.

We will see, still a long way until Iowa.

DeSantis discussing part of the root causes of why the homeless problem has gotten so out of hand, most of those folks have mental health issues but we are simply leaving them out on the streets.

Dems can't argue that. It's a good platform issue for DeSantis if he develops a realistic plan.

DeSantis Op Ed in USA Today on his economic policy, great stuff if you want to understand what he stands for and his plan for the future. It's very MAGA Conservative focused on growth and protecting American jobs and allowing Middle Class families to live a good life on a single income with a lot of detail.

The next thing I knew, they were escorting me to the parking in front of my house. His bus stopped right in front of my house, and people started coming out. Finally, Mrs. DeSantis came out and shook my hand and said, "Nice to meet you." Then Ron DeSantis ascended the stairs, shook my hand, and said, Nice to meet you, Peggy. Thank you for supporting me!"

The people with the cameras wanted pictures, so they had us stand behind his signs. As I stood between him and his wife, I thought, No way is this happening to little ol' me here in Vinton, Iowa. Then he asked one of his workers to bring out a hat, and he autographed it. When we walked back to the huge bus, I thought my legs were either rubber or melting plastic. Before he got back on the bus, I said it was an honor to meet him. He waved and said before the door closed, "I will make you proud!"

I thought DeSantis has no "it" factor or charisma though?

Yeah, no. If you think that most Republicans would be voting for Biden or Hillary if not for Trump you need your head examined. This is why people use use the "C" word in reference to Trump voters.

They don't do that. It's very rare, only 1.3% of the time!!!!

He did well but would have LOVED for him to say, "You know, that's actually pretty close to the numbers on Rape, Incest, and Life of the Mother as well but we categorize those differently too" The Left loves to bring up the extreme cases as their examples but they dismiss it whenever the Right does the same.

The good news in the latest 538 average, DeSantis closed the gap ever so slightly with Trump...

Trump dropped 1/10th of a point, and DeSantis picked up 8/10ths of a point...

It's the first gap closing he has had in several weeks...

The bad news is that the polls are currently baking in the latest indictment, and though the news does appear to damage Trump a little (which has been the trend previously), the gap shrinkage remains quite small (here, less than 1-point)... I would expect the gap to widen again in the next couple of cycles...

We shall see, though... Would really like to see a 2+ point swing in favor of DeSantis which I believe would be indicative of him gaining a little steam...

The RCP average did not show an ever-so-slight tightening of the gap:

I suspect the campaign manager shake up is directly linked to their internal numbers, which I would assume likely mirror those being reported...

Trump went through 3 or 4 in 2016.

What's your point other than another concerned MAGA post?
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Nice to be posting in Eastern Time Zone once again!

Trump continuing to plumb the depths of rage posting and showing off his low class mafia bullying techniques:

"WOW, it's finally happened! Liddle' Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.

"I never told a newly emboldened (not based on his 2% poll numbers!) Pence to put me above the Constitution, or that Mike was 'too honest.' He's delusional, and now he wants to show he's a tough guy," Trump added, denying information that was contained in the indictment. "I once read a major magazine article on Mike. It said he was not a very good person. I was surprised, but the article was right. Sad!"

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire over the weekend, Pence was greeted by pro-Trump hecklers who derided the former vice president as a "traitor" and a "sellout."

Assuming DeSantis fails to get the nomination, I won't be because he lost it. It will be because Trump won it. There's a certain cult of personality around Trump that there is just nothing DeSantis or anyone can do to overcome.

This is unfortunate since I think Trump at the top of the ticket next year means 4 more years of Biden.

For DECADES conservatives and Republicans were whining about:

"just give us a young, photogenic true conservative who has governed in a conservative fashion and WINS"

Enter Ron Desantis.

and the Trump backers now state:

"actually, give us someone who would be 82 years old if elected, has been impeached twice, doesn't govern in a conservative manner, insults everyone and anyone who gets in his way, has a 60% disapproval rating and is facing likely four criminal trials."

and yet it's the DeSantis supporters that are somehow not using our intelligence?!?!
