My first thought when I saw that they all get drunk during the session was, how was that legal?

Then I remembered, they are the ones that make the laws.
A bunch of embarrassing alcoholics to let this go on...yet they consistently vote against cannabis legalization.
How do you know it was alcohol and not Delta 8 gummies that had him up there slurring like that?

And don't tell me Delta 8 can't cause that. I've tried Delta 8...once...because it basically had that effect on me and I didn't like it.

I guess I could see a really strong gummy doing that. Gotta be careful and know your limits. if that was a D8 gummy, it would make him even more of a hypocrite.

Well, he's implying that politicians of both parties are bought and paid for by China. Sure looks like he's right.
So the question is....do politicians go into politics being okay with being supported by China, or is it a progression that just happens because their integrity doesn't hold? What I'm saying is that good people seem to get into these positions and then slowly, or not, migrate into the grift.
Not saying I buy into the China owns many politicians, just that the system is set up for self serving efforts to be perpetuated as long as the people feel their needs are being meet too.

I don't really care what the reason is or when it happens.

When a Texas legislature can't pass a law to block Chinese communists from buying up land and properties in our state both parties seem bought and paid for. Also I know it's not just foreign pressure but also home grown Texas lobbyists that want this to continue too!

However since it was mentioned who is actually paying for the alcohol? Taxpayers?

Lastly we don't need a Nancy Pelosi as a Texas House speaker.
He already favors democrats now he's talking like her too!

I think this happens a lot. People are imperfect, and the bureaucracy both in DC and Austin, are exceptionally good at finding blind spots and hitting elected officials where they are personally weak. And once they have messed up they are owned - and susceptible to all sorts of pressures to do what they are told or be destroyed.

Edit - not making excuses for people or saying there aren't good elected officials that stay above the fray, but people are people and susceptible to screwing up. When you are in a position of power, it can go badly quickly if you aren't very careful.

Guessing no one in this thread was alive when the late great Senator John Tower was in office. A true Texas legend.

Stickland should have been Speaker. I'm still disappointed he wouldn't do it.

I read that lobbyists buy the alcohol and it flows freely.

Well that would make sense and also makes the assumption that it came (at least some ) from Chinese Communists

Strickland should do more than tweet that. He should be calling for him to be removed immediately!
