A gentleman who I know here in Allen, who goes to my church his cousin is married to the mayor incumbent Daniel Davis the Republican who had all of the odds in his favor to win reelection, but lost to the Democrat, 52 to 48.

He told me that his cousin by marriage got complacent they took the race for granted they thought they had it in the bag in the last couple of months, didn't do much campaigning. He has not spoken to him since the night of the election, but will find out some more details and will pass them along.

This exactly what I figured what happened is that we've got fat on the hog especially in Florida that's Republicans I think we got it all made but we forget the Democrats never stop while we go to Cabo to party and have a good time they stay back and pound the streets to register voters they get teams to canvas.

When I got elected to school board *ahem, humble brag* my campaign advisor made me politic outside voting locations all day on election Saturday because he said he'd never seen a winning candidate without a sunburn. I won 70-30 and was very sunburned.
If the pay's right, and it's legal, I'll do it...Well, if the pay's right, I'll do it.

Proud to be a politician...c'mon man!?!? I was disappointed each time I was elected to City Council!

(Smaller humble brag)

Did the same thing though. Sat on the tailgate talking to folks with an ice chest full of water in the truck bed. Always talk to folks if you want to close a sale. Politics or houses. More face time means people are more comfortable because they actually know you better.

So… the poster whose entire raison d'etre for being on this board is that he has connections with people in politics, just happens to know a guy who's related by marriage to a mayoral candidate a thousand miles away. Who then told him all about why he lost. Riiiight…

Or… it's a lot of bull.

Daniel Davis was not the incumbent. Lenny Curry is the current mayor, and is term limited.

The odds were never in his favor. It's a 50/50 city at best (probably leans D if you go beyond likely voters). And the Democrat candidate has maybe the largest non-professional athlete brand recognition in the city.

About the only thing your guy's cousin got "right" in that report was the fact that Davis did run a lackluster campaign. But Davis does indeed lack luster. He has a decent resume, but nobody outside the business/political arena in Jacksonville knows him; everybody in Jacksonville knows Donna Deegan.

Though he was eligible to run for re-election in 2014 and was considered a potential candidate for Mayor of Jacksonville in 2015, he declined to seek re-election or to run for Mayor following his appointment as the President of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and he finished out his second term in the legislature
Well, your story doesn't really align with the facts, and you try really hard to sound like an insider on this board, so what do you expect people to think?

There are only 2 ways to run for public office.... scared or unopposed.

1. We didn't even recruit him. Turns out the coaches didn't want that kid who committed to "Insert any other Texas college here".

2. If we lost the election, it was because the other side cheated because everyone thinks like me.

3. If we lost an election, we must have been complacent because it cannot be that we look like our leaders have lost all focus on true conservatism and instead have chosen to fight Mickey Mouse and transgenders.

This story is made up. Everyone here knows if a republican loses an election the following occurred

1) millions of illegals voted

2) democrat vote counters realized a loss was coming so they " found" a ton of votes in the back room

3) republican votes got thrown out

4) republicans got locked out of or lost access to a polling place

And you like to smoke pot so much you don't care that you vote and support the evil of this world. I don't mind your pot but voting for evil takeover of world and loss of freedom makes little sense to me. Carry on.

But I didn't say any of those things, nor was, I told any of those particulars I said it was complacency, lack of enthusiasm taking the race for granted that's what I said, and you know that

Why is it that republicans have to campaign twice as hard but democrats like Biden and fetterman can stay in their basement comatosed and still get elected?

Conservatives will split hairs and refuse to vote over their principles.... democrats don't have principles and just always vote D and defend whatever the platform may be.

It is, "Always pretend you're down 12 to Northern Iowa with 45 seconds on the clock."

Beating a dead horse at this point…

There's only three white men who would've/could've won the Jacksonville mayoral race.

Ron DeSantis
John Rutherford (US Representative, former Sheriff, demolished Deegan in the last House race)
