My coworker just introduced me to Vivek, a possible presidential republican candidate. From the little I've read and seen some clips of his, I find him impressive.

Quote:

Ramaswamy studied molecular biology at Harvard University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2007. He also received a J.D. from Yale Law School in 2011. In 2014, he founded Roivant Sciences, a biopharmaceutical company. In 2017, he authored the book "Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam," in which he critiqued what he perceives as the corporate embrace of "wokeness" and its potential negative impact on free speech and open debate.

This guy is a millionaire and under 40. He has some clips of his views on his twitter

I'm an engineer for a private upstream oil and gas, and its nice to hear someone have common sense on domestic energy production..... Nuclear Energy. I like him better than Trump and Desantis. Plus he's a minority like me wahooo!

He has already said he's running and has been in Iowa for weeks now. I like the guy a lot too. Not sure he's viable with Trump and DeSantis around though, doubt he'll still be on the ballot when we vote in Texas.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Running on dismantling the FBI, CIA, Homeland, etc....

Also promotes that 18-25 year olds must "Earn" their right to vote by passing a basic civics test or serving in the military.

He's not just a "possible" candidate, he has announced. I really like him, too. Solid, sane positions on pretty much everything.

Based on his age, financial background (read: not beto), and the strength of the field, I'd bet his play is name recognition and either vp or future frontrunner status.

I'd be hesitant to vote for him based on the lack of political jobs as he might end up being like Crenshaw. However everything I've seen from him shows he's got solutions and is willing to push for them.

He HATES woke bs and divisive backwards DEI and ESG stuff and also wants to dismantle the FBI and other alphabet agencies. He's on a very short list of dream candidates for me.

I did see my first bit of negative information on Ramaswamy two weeks ago when it was stated he was involved with Soros in his youth.

I didn't follow it up, as I'm with most of y'all, I like him a lot. However, I didn't take the time to research the supposed Soros information due to Ramaswamy having little probability to win.

I'm hoping it was a troll or some other piece of trash information. Even if it's true, Vivek seems to have overcome any kind of collectivists tendencies and found his own way.

He's smart, articulate, and has some great ideas. In the end though he is still 37 and never had any type of government job. It's easy to make promises and proposals when you don't have to worry about how you would actually accomplish them. I'd like for him to serve in an Admin or run for a lower office but he would have a MASSIVE learning curve as President and would be eaten alive by the Swamp.

I also don't care for how he has attacked DeSantis on Disney by spreading misinformation or simply not understanding the case. That was a huge flag for me because if you listen to anyone who is actually familiar with Florida Law it's pretty clear that DeSantis has all the cards, especially because he got the actual law changed through the Legislature. It comes across as a cheap hit job where he is trying to use his credibility as an intelligent guy to mislead so he can hit DeSantis.

I also find it interesting he always praises Trump but hits DeSantis. It makes me question his motives, especially because he is at best a LOOOOONG shot but he could certainly be effective on a debate stage if his only goal was to hammer on DeSantis as a proxy for Trump. Christie did the same thing to Rubio.

That's Paul, not George. It was a fellowship to pay for Yale Law School. Nothing he says is consistent with George Soros' vision.

I agree, look I'm all about drill baby drill as its my livelihood. But in terms of clean energy, scalability nuclear makes the most sense. Govt just has way too much red tape that makes the construction/operational costs run amok.

Plus it will help my little BTC miners keep humming along lol.

The fact you posted the first link as a smear is the reason for his actions described in the second link. The third link expands on the smear.

Vivek Ramaswamy is one of the most capable and qualified people in the public square. He is the founder and CEO of Roivant Sciences. He understands complex economic issues. He graduate Summa Cumme Laude from Harvard in Biology and has a law degree from Yale. His book, Woke, Inc, is arguably the strongest argument I have witnessed against institutionalized racism in the Western World.

If he runs for President, I will definitely vote for him.

Then you are very, very naive. It sounds great but if you want to fight the Democrats and get Legislation passed and manage a bureaucracy of our size it takes more than idealism. You better know WTF you are doing or else you are going to get your ass handed to you and the rest of us will pay the price.

haha I am in a midstream gas company. I know where my bread is buttered.

Nuclear is not the end all be all for our energy consumption. There are way too many products that come from the oil that I think in 100 years it will still be considered as the lifeblood of economies.

I do think that nuclear would for sure make us energy independent from the rest of the world and be able to flood the market when you choose to.

But alas, we have the collective IQ of a class of baby monkeys learning that poop comes out of their butts right now in the WH (and in Congress).

I imagine it is, but I still feel it's relevant when evaluating him. I personally believe he's Trump's hatchetman. His goal is to get on the debates and go after Desantis and provide Trump cover.

I admit I haven't looked at his comments lately, but he hadn't been criticizing Trump at all, but was attacking Desantis regularly.

This doesn't mean I hate him or anything. Just believe he's more of an unknown than anyone. I'd take a chance on him over Pence or Nicky though lol.

I like a lot of his ideas and hope for him as a VP to DeSantis or future congressional candidate.

Unlike Crenshaw (who someone brought up), he's not running on flash or image, but ideas. The problem with Crenshaw is that he was voted into office because he lost an eye in combat but did not articulate conservative principles on the campaign trail...turns out that's not a sound predictor of political stances. Writing a book and campaigning on ideas is a good predictor of what someone believes and how they will vote.

I discount the relevance based on everything I've heard him say over the last few months.

I haven't really noticed the Trump's hatchet man angle, but I guess that will clear up as we go along. It's certainly possible.

He's definitely better than Pence or Nicky.

Vivek is smart. Been following him for a while and I seem to always agree with him. He can't win the nomination, but I hope he has a seat at the table for primary debates. I like him a lot more than some other Rs that have announced as running, such as Nikki Haley.

my guess is that he will fall by the wayside like the candidate in Tenn that was left out of the GOP running, even though he went through and got the signatures/letters and everything else he needed.

The GOP protects its own and after Trump, I am not sure how many outsiders will get another shot

"The China Syndrome", released March 16, 1979.

Three Mile Island, March 28, 1979. TMI made people think "The China Syndrome" was a documentary.

Many Americans have been terrified of nuclear ever since.

And government has kept Americans fearful of it because of the multitude of people who would lose wealth if energy became cheaper.

But a thread on nuclear energy should be started instead of continuing to talk about it on here. Glad to hear there is at least one politician willing to discuss it.

I really hope he does more than be the hatchet man but it's clear he gets very irritated and negative when DeSantis is brought up and his demeanor changes completely when Trump is brought up. It's odd because his policies are actually much closer to DeSantis. That's why I find that suspicious.

Very smart guy and someone I'd love to see on the team but he is just too young and inexperienced for the job for now. If we didn't have Trump and DeSantis I might feel differently but he's not in the same league. It takes more than ideas.

If you don't think DeSantis is an economic conservative you don't know much about DeSantis. He's a Founding Member of the Freedom Caucus and Florida is running on half of NY's budget with better results, tax cuts, and a massive surplus.
