Ex-Las Vegas Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III has officially pleaded guilty in the fatal DUI crash that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor after accepting a plea deal that could land him up to 10 years in prison.

Ruggs, 24, was in Clark County (Nevada) District Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to one count of DUI resulting in death as well as one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, per Yahoo Sports.

He had a preliminary hearing on May 2 in which his attorney explained that he would be pleading guilty to the charges stemming from the Nov. 2, 2021, crash.

Ruggs initially faced up to 50 years in prison, but his plea deal drops that to between three and 10 years.

Until his sentencing on Aug. 9, Ruggs will remain under house arrest, where ESPN reports he will be monitored with electronic devices that detect location and alcohol.

Ruggs, who was the Raiders' first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, was driving 156 mph in his Corvette, police say, when he crashed into Tintor's Toyota RAV4. Her gas tank ruptured due to the crash, and it resulted in her death as well as the death of her golden retriever, Max.

When taken to the hospital for his own injuries, Ruggs' blood-alcohol content measured at 0.161, which is twice the legal limit of Nevada.

Kiara Je'nai Kilgo-Washington, who was also in Ruggs' Corvette at the time of the crash, suffered injuries as well.

Driving 156mph while blowing a 0.16. He's damn lucky he and the girl that was with him are alive.

It never ceases to amaze me how people that have been given such a rare opportunity are willing to risk blowing it all on a single night of partying. He destroyed lives, his career, and now he gets to spend time in prison. Hopefully the maximum ten years. It's the least he deserves.

District Attorney Steven B. Wolfson said in a statement that the charge of driving under the influence resulting in death was "the most serious charge the law allows" when someone dies as the result of a drunken driver's actions. That charge, the statement said, was based virtually entirely on the result of a blood draw, which occurred at the hospital.

Ruggs' legal team had sought to suppress the results of the blood draw, arguing there was insufficient probable cause for a judge to approve it. Had a judge suppressed the blood draw, Wolfson's statement said, there was a "strong likelihood" that the DUI death charge would have been dismissed.

"I recognize this outcome is not sufficient to punish Ruggs for the loss the Tintor family has suffered," the statement said, "but there was a legitimate concern that a court would have suppressed the result of the blood draw. We would have lost the felony DUI charge. We couldn't take that chance. This resolution sends Ruggs to prison for up to 10 years on a felony DUI conviction and brings closure to the Tintor family."

His sentence was lenient, but not because he was an athlete

They've also got a nightclub located inside the Las Vegas stadium.
You can get bottle service that comes completes with a scantily dressed gals that can serve you drinks while you watch the football game live from the end zone.

They have a DJ who is always blasting out the latest hip hop music. Its one of those moments where you can shown off your money and sit with the cool kids at an NFL game.

Quote:

Wynn Field Club sits at field level, spanning the entire length of the north end zone. Ticketed fans can sit in the nearly 11,000-square-foot venue anchored by booths and appearances by Wynn Nightlife's roster of DJs that includes The Chainsmokers, Alesso, Diplo, David Guetta, and Dillon Francis. Those sitting in the stadium nightclub can score premium bottle service.

Manica Architecture created the free-flowing design of Wynn Field Club with 42 televisions, a nine-foot by 35-foot LED screen, a 45,000-watt sound system, and two DJ booths for the field-level party.

Surprisingly, Nevada is harsher than Texas when it comes to drunk driving. DUI causing death has a minimum two year prison sentence over there (and isn't probation eligible), while in Texas, it has a minimum 120 day jail sentence (and is probation eligible after serving the 120 days).

As part of the plea deal, he won't receive credit for the time he spent on house arrest after bonding out, so his sentence will start tomorrow.

The Tintor family must be suing him for any money he has left from the NFL. So instead of making tens of millions he will now only be able to get a regular job after he gets out of prison with the constant thought of what might have been !

Maybe
But would you put his crime worse than abortion?

Would you put his crime worse than someone robbing a gas station

Would you put his crime worse than the guys in NY cold cocking and elderly woman or man

I see him being carelessly reckless and obviously drunk driving but that wasn't the problem it was him going 156 mph

But not doing it on purpose, killing the lady. Intention is a big deal

I d c what he spends time in jail
When I see the other things with intention of evil spending 6 months or 60 days and being released

He's being made an example because he's a NFL football player. I'm sure he has a horrendous guilt.

I have guit for passing a car on a 2 way road and another car comes out and I barely made it over and put my family of 4 at risk. Whether I was going 80 or 156 but I'm 47. I certainly didn't mean to do that. And feet away from changing my life. Thank the Lord for protection.

Same way if a guy was drunk playing with his pistol and shot someone
It's wreckless as hell. Stupid. It's why guys that age shouldn't be driving a car that fast.

But he had no intention of doing this
He had liquid courage
Made a grave mistake

Deshazer Everett flipped his Nissan gtr. No drinking
But he killed the girl passenger.

he's not a murderer (ruggs)
He did make wreckless mistake the same way a client texted and driving and a car at a stop light and killed them. I.am More pissed about the gang bangers in Chicago shooting someone and getting off. Even the shop lifters in NY that are the same 300 people that keep stealing intentionally.

Drink driving has a taboo much worse than texting and driving or just distracted driving. Or looking at your girlfriend's legs or changing the radio or looking at the girl in the car next to you Anything that deters your viewing of the road should be taboo. What was really wreckless was how fast he was going.

I look at intent differently and most here should as well.
Accidents are accidents and leading cause of death for under 30 years old. Why Are they called accidents because they're not done on purpose and it happens every day. Kids doing something stupid. I'm amazed anyone walked away going 156 mph

I can't imagine not having enough probable cause for a blood draw after that kind of accident. You hit someone at 150mph and you should expect to be tested.

Drunk driving and speeding at 150mph are not accidents. They're intentional bad decisions, and anyone stepping behind the wheel knows the risks of those two things. Any idiot should know that killing someone is a danger of operating a 3500lb vehicle at 150mph when you're inebriated. Saying, "He didn't mean to," is BS. It's like dating someone randomly with a gun into houses didn't mean to kill anyone when they for damn sure know that's a likely outcome.

Speaking of NFL players involved in fatal car crashes, saw this article recently about Deshazor Everett's crash that killed his fiancee.

His crash was not DUI-related and he had the support of his fiancee's parents on his plea deal. Sounds like he's about to complete the terms of the plea and the legal chapter will be over next month.

Will be interesting to see whether there's a football opportunity for him anywhere or not. Hope the best for him whatever is in his future.

If the victim's family wants to sue him, his guilty plea can be used against him at the civil trial. There was a guy from my town who pled guilty to killing someone while drunk and high on Xanax and cocaine and fleeing the scene in exchange for fifteen years, and his guilty plea was used against him at the civil trial and he now owes the victim's family $69,250,000.
