It sounds like DeSantis had a good year, so far.

Quote:

In the space of just three months, Governor DeSantis and the Republican supermajority have created the largest school-choice program in American history, banned abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, made Florida the 26th constitutional-carry state in the nation, forced unions to abide by the Supreme Court's Janus decision, cut taxes by $2 billion, banned sex-change operations from being performed on minors, barred DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) initiatives in universities, expanded the use of mandatory E-Verify in the state, achieved a previously unthinkable collection of tort reforms, declared driver's licenses issued to out-of-state illegal immigrants invalid in Florida, prohibited state and local governments from considering ESG (environmental, social, and governance) factors in their contracting and investing decisions, extended last year's Parental Rights in Education law through twelfth grade, made it illegal for financial institutions to discriminate on the basis of "religious, political, or social beliefs," and prevented credit-card companies from tracking their customers' gun purchases.

...

My point the sine qua non point, really is that Florida provides a remarkable example of a political organization having conceived of, and then executed, a coherent vision. Until 1999, Florida had elected only two Republican governors since Reconstruction. Since then, voters have refused to elect a single Democrat to the mansion. Better still, Republicans have been rewarded for their efforts. From the end of the Civil War until 2021, there were more registered Democrats in the state than Republicans. Today, the Republicans have an advantage of 454,918, the Republican governor has a 5939 approvedisapprove rating, and the legislature has so many Republican legislators sitting in it that it could pass any legislation it wished to over a gubernatorial veto.

Trump showed us how not to do things (well, he did show us how to lose elections), while DeSantis is showing us how to make things work.

How can there be any doubt that DeSantis is the much better candidate than Trump for 2024?

After DeSantis "loses" an election to Biden you'll see he has some of the same issues Trump has: He's a republican and the dems will cheat to win and make fake allegations.

The absolute best part about TDS...all I have to do to make heads explode is wear a maga hat outside. The left has to work allot harder nowadays.

I'm voting for whoever the R is on most any ticket for the foreseeable future after what the left has done since the lies about covid, but idc if it's Trump or DeSantis, I just want obamas 3rd term to end, so we can get the Potatus out of the Whitehouse.

Exactly. Until we can harvest ballots (in the Democrat-controlled urban centers, lol), even a stud like DeSantis will lose. Maaaaaybe then all you conservative-TDS guys will figure out that it doesn't matter and that something different is needed.

So you think we should nominate Trump because we will lose anyway and he is funny or something? There was a lot of shenanigans in '20 for sure but if you don't think that there were legions of people lining up to vote against him or you think he was actually popular with Independents I'm sorry but you are living in a dream world.

DeSantis can crossover Independents, Trump cannot. DeSantis is also more conservative than Trump. If you truly believe there is so much cheating you should want the guy who can get as many votes to overcome it and not the guy who has about a 30% approval with Independents on a good day.

Either Trump or DeSantis is fine with me. Can you give any good reason why the prospect of another Biden term wouldn't drive legions of republicans and independents to the polls? Or do you think people are dumb enough to request another term like this one or stay home and let Biden have it?

It's an honest question... People might actually be that dumb.

Yes, if its Biden vs. Trump then a TON of people will just sit out the election. And despite Biden's horrible first term, the incumbant in that scenario will win (plus the margin of victory will be close enough to allow for more 3 a.m. ballot shenanigans).

Good reason? What does a good reason have to do with why people vote? A lot of people simply hate Trump more than Biden. Do I think that's a bad choice? Of course, but it is also a reality. I'd also recommend you look at my sig.

DeSantis allows for a much younger alternative that is a new choice, for a lot of those folks that's enough. They vote for or against the incumbent. Trump is effectively like an incumbent though as a former President with universal Name ID. People have very set opinions of him.

Once people have made up their minds, it can be very difficult to get them to change.

They made up their minds about Trump in 2020 or before and there is pretty much nothing that Trump has said or done since the 2020 election that would provide them much reason to change their mind and vote for Trump.

With Trump, it isn't at all about advancing Conservative or Republican causes. It is about his own power and only about his own power and it doesn't matter if he has to destroy the Republican Party in his attempts to take power again.

Why are you asking me? Like I said, I don't care which one of them gets the nomination. The only thing that matters is if The Party will let the GOP nominee win. That's the big question.

After Trump loses to desantis, will Trump accuse him of cheating? Will Trumpers parrot the same?

Of course they will. They did when Cruz beat him in Iowa. I caucused for Cruz. Trump's "top men" running the Iowa campaign knew nothing about the caucus process and it showed. But "Cruz cheated". LOL

for the low information voters, and the low educated voters-

reality, achievements, regulations, policies mean nothing.

the only thing that matters is their feels.

and if Trump says he will @#$#@$ the media, and if he is persecuted for paying off porn stars and trying to overturn legitimate elections- even so much the better.

you literally can't reason using facts and logic with some of the Trumpers.

the only hope for the Republic is that those ideologues immune to logic are a minority of a minority.

People might actually be that dumb.

let me take a crack at answering your question:

and in my advantage- I don't have to guess. because we have real data to analyze.

in midterm elections the party OUT OF POWER always makes gains.

were you alive in November 2022?

there was ACTUALLY AN ELECTION WITH BIDEN AS THE PRESIDENT and his party won.

and the economy was by many metrics WORSE then than now.

so using 8th grader logic- if Biden had a @#$#@ economy and won in 2022 against Trump candidates,

after winning in 2020 against Trump,

why wouldn't he win against Trump yet again in 2024?

With Trump, it isn't at all about advancing Conservative or Republican causes. It is about his own power and only about his own power and it doesn't matter if he has to destroy the Republican Party in his attempts to take power again.

Take a look at this story from 2021: https://abcnews.go.com/US/trump-told-rnc-chair-leaving-gop-create-party/story?id=80979889

Who knows if it is true or not but the the thing that sticks out to me is he gave Jonathan Karl multiple interviews and inside access to write a book. You know because it worked out so well when he let Woodward do the same. He simply will never learn that these people hate him and will never be fair with him so giving them that level of access to write a hit piece book is only going to cause him problems.

You must know something the Florida GOP congressmen don't know, from experience. Who are they lining up behind?

Quote:

As of May 1, Trump counted 11 Florida congressmen in his corner, including Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz, Greg Steube, and rising star Byron Donalds, one of only two black Republicans in the House of Representatives.

In contrast, DeSantis snagged only Rep. Laurel Lee (R-Brandon).

I don't care if Oz was a Trump candidate. With the problems you mentioned with the country voting for a stroke patient who was a moron even before the stroke over any rational person cannot be rationalized. That is an extremely strong case for the "People might actually be that dumb" argument.

True, The media are already ramping up. And they have an ally in mouthy Donald Trump. Where DeSantis shuts up and works and delivers results. Still your point is valid.

If you find anything surprising about the 81 million votes, then you haven't been paying attention.

Most of the margin that Biden had over Trump was in California. Surely you don't believe that California set up some massive cheating organization to get Biden more than five million extra votes.

And in any event, you should at least understand by now that the popular vote doesn't matter.
