I believe the most important and foreboding part of "1984" was not the totalitarian surveillance state Big Brother, but the destruction of language and the effect that has on formulating thought.

It is very frightening to observe the rapid pace the left has achieved in attacking language. Even my wife chastised me last night for calling a bum a bum. She said the word "bum" was offensive and I should call them "homeless". To which I responded, "What will you call them when you are told 'homeless' is offensive?".

When language is inconvenient to the leftist, they will send you on a wild goose chase of terminology until there is no meaningful way to describe something that they don't like being differentiated. "Gender diverse biological male participants" is a great example of what you get when you eliminate perfectly succinct terminology.

Yep, destroying language is textbook for where they are headed. And we all mostly go along with it just to avoid a confrontation.
