The monorail seems petty. Disney is HIGHLY motivated to ensure the monorail runs safe and reliably.

Should DIsney be immune from oversight on their transportation? Absolutely not. But the bill includes provisions for interruption in service at the inspectors discretion and that can be crippling to Disney's visitor experience.

Again, just feels petty and I think he is aiming for an image much above that (I expect Trump to be maliciously petty, its who he is and its not a positive trait).

Excellent question. I think responding to direct issues aggressively is great. So his response to dissolve Reedy Creek felt to be an appropriate response. Voicing concerns over CDBC seems appropriate. Passing legislation to directly attack Disney's localized transportation system at the same time passing actual restrictions on CDBC (which currently does not exist yet... correct?) feels like Scarface say hello to my little friend styler.

And I would argue that the opposite of playing it close to the vast is what Trump did and continues to do and a big part of what has been his downfall.

Its a tough balance. I like the hang it all out there style of Trump, but he lacks committed focus on large, complex issues. DeSantis strikes me as someone who internalizes much of their thought then gives his decision. That can be a good thing, but it can make others including those around you feel like their voice is not being heard, and that can create support issues.

I think both your responses are completely valid.

I see some of the pointed things he does like the monorail and I flinch a little bit, but as a Florida resident having seen his track record since he became governor I give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what hes doing until he actually does screw up.

I personally love that he plays things close to the vest and keeps a small, tight-knit, tight-lipped group of advisors and confidants. That says a lot to me about his intelligence, wisdom, and self-confidence.

I like a lot about Vivek but he was bigtime into the vaccine and stayed with it pretty late. Mainly though he is a 37 year old with zero experience in government and I just don't see how someone like that succeeds as a GOP President. It's not a starter job.

It's why we have 12 months of vetting ahead of us. DeSantis may be the lead horse, but we are gauging horses whilst they are colts and I am not ready place my bets yet.

If the Trump Presidency ended in March of 2020 he would have been an all timer, it didn't though. You can excuse away March 2020 onward and why it wasn't his fault but his choices seriously tarnished his image and credibility. He's also 76 now and will be over 80 if he serves his term. Is he super energetic and sharp for a 76 year old or compared to Biden? Yep! Compared to a 44 year old though, not so much.

If you are insisting that every DeSantis supporter must say that Trump was a "great President" you aren't going to win many people over. If you can talk about the good things he did while also talking about exactly how he is going to improve on his mistakes that's much more compelling. So far Trump isn't doing much of that though, he's very focused on talking about how great he was and how terrible things are now and he can't let go of the election. He shows glimmers now and then and that's great but DeSantis talks about the future and how he wants to implement the "Florida Plan" nonstop.
