Heads up, sanctuary cities.

Governor Ron DeSantis has been given the go-ahead to send illegal aliens to sanctuary cities, Democrat-run cities that virtue-signal about welcoming everyone, regardless of legal status.

The problem is that when border state governors take them up on their claims, the mayors of those cities have a hissy fit. Which is it? Are these cities welcoming everyone or not?

The Florida Legislature passed a bill that provides $12 million to fly illegal aliens to Democrat cities.

This money will fund the program DeSantis used last year to fly illegal aliens to Martha's Vineyard. That move, more than any other up until that point, fully exposed Democrats as the hypocrites they are. In February DeSantis signed the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program into law. It formally launched a new program to relocate illegal migrants from anywhere in the country to sanctuary cities and states. The bill passed by the Legislature helps to fund the program.

Last September DeSantis informally began the new program to send a message that Florida supports border states like Texas and Arizona in their efforts to send buses or flights outside their states with illegal aliens on board.

Good work by DeSantis. I appreciate a consolidated thread by the way as it is a good reminder reading through OP to see what he has accomplished!

Ask home owners how easy or inexpensive it is to get home owners insurance with so many companies moving out of state.
FL will always have issues with hurricanes driving up costs. Happened after Andrew. Happened again the year they had 3 hurricanes in 1 year. This one is compounded because you have a massive influx of population and more importantly money coming in. High net worth individuals and companies are coming their in droves from Blue states. Supply and demand can't be stopped as a force and the cost of Mother Nature flattening a city as large as Fort Myers is going to affect rates.

FWIW, they did pass some insurance regulations last year but it is very hard to solve that fundamental problem outside of government just writing massive checks with taxpayer money. Inevitably if you want to live on the FL Coast you are going to pay a premium.

The homeowners insurance issue was covered extensively on another thread a week or so ago by a poster who insists on putting the whole blame on Desantis even though its been brewing for decades.

Actual damage by hurricanes are a part of it, but really the biggest issues are the scam contactors and "ambulance chasing" attorneys. But Desantis has actually done something about all of that to hopefully bring more insurance companies back to state. It's another potential "win" for him. At the very least he's trying and not just running his mouth then passing the buck.

The dude is just a "do-er" plain and simple.

I love how DeSantis bit** slaps these reporters.

This issue alone should be enough to get people to vote for DeSantis. This was the biggest attempted overreach and trampling of personal freedoms in the history of this country and the left just wants everyone to forget about it so they can do it again down the road.

DeSantis is leading the way on fighting back against federal abuse of power. The question the reporter should have asked is why all the other red state governors and legislatures aren't doing the same.

LOL at all the legal geniuses here that tried to create a narrative that DeSantis overreached and lost the fight and there was nothing he could do about it.

If he gets a shot at the Oval Office he is going to make eviscerating Democrats a regular occurrence.

Florida ranked number one in higher education.

Quote:

The latest U.S. News & World Report concluded that Florida is the best state for higher education.

The rankings look at "the share of citizens in each state holding college degrees, as well as college graduation rates, the cost of in-state tuition and fees, and the burden of debt that college graduates carry," according to the publication.

The publication also ranked Florida high in 2-year college graduation rate, 4-year college graduation rate and for its students graduating with minimal debt.

Great speech and interview with DeSantis here from a few weeks ago at Hillsdale explaining his approach. It's an hour but if you just listen about 5 minutes in to 15 minutes you can really get a strong feel for him

He lays out:

1. How even before he took office he had his staff do a deep dive into exactly what powers he had and what he did not as Governor. He wanted to make sure from a legal perspective exactly what was possible and what was not so he could plan accordingly. This later set him up to remove people such as the Soros DA so that he knew how he had to approach it.

2. He is a strong believer in active usage of power within the law and is critical of Republicans that sit back and react. He advocates small government conservatism and liberty but also has recognized that if you sit back the Left will fill the void.

3. No leaks, ever. He cleaned out his Admin early with anyone who wasn't on board with his agenda and got off message or leaked. This allows him to keep the drama level very low in his admin because they aren't spending time putting out fires of their own creation.

4. Always be on offense. By not leaking it also allows for you to control the messaging to the press and they don't have time to develop narratives and attack you because you are already on the attack or moving on to the next target. This is essentially reversing what the Left does against them, they get caught off guard constantly and don't know how to spin or react because they don't know what is coming until it hits them in the face. By the time they are hitting back he has already punched them somewhere new.

Lots more of course. He is just highly organized and knows how to be prepared and has strong legal counsel.

I believe he's talking about how DeSantis inherited GWB's hurricane machine and uses it to cause extra hurricanes, thus causing insurance companies to flee the state.

Lengthy thread filled with examples of DeSantis' cleaning up political indoctrination in textbooks. Lots of pure Leftist propaganda and America hating.

This probably would be a good stand alone thread topic. Showing examples of the indoctrination.

I bet parents in Texas and across the nation have kids using the same textbook publishers but their leadership (abbott, Texas Rs) are useless.

One thing about DeSantis, he understand how to frame issues. He's literally setting up each of his major W's to sign one day at a time so he can have a separate PC for each and make them the story of the day. Yesterday was against the CCP, today is Teachers and Education. The message discipline is outstanding. He also runs a tight ship and doesn't reveal details of what he will discuss beforehand so reporters have to show up and try to ask him questions with little time to prep.

BTW the Left is screaming because a lot of teachers are quitting in FL because of Anti Woke Legislation but DeSantis is using the First Responders/Ex Military plan as well as pay raises to get a new set of teachers in that are actually interested in teaching kids instead of indoctrinating them.

Any teacher leaving for those reasons are welcome to leave ASAP, and I say that as the husband of a teacher.

Yep, and his policies are going to get people who wouldn't have considered teaching to want to get into the profession. It's extremely well thought out and is going to give him a lot of ammo as the campaign goes on.
