You are aware the topic and article linked are referring specifically to late night shows?

Were you also aware that late night shows are typically written and produced within days if not hours of each other, while most of the weekly shows that people tend to rave about for multiple seasons were written/filmed often months in advance?

I guess you're just watching this board only, waiting for an opportunity for a snarky zinger that misses your intended mark.
No snarky zinger, just don't think a writers strike is a great thing if you enjoy TV, most people do. If you don't want to watch late night, just turn it off.

You all are aware writers work on more shows than the late night shows? This sucks for TV in general. I guess you're all watching ESPN, an evil Disney company, so maybe don't care?
Please let this affect Disney and all of their Star Wars writers outside of those for Andor!
Oh, and fire Kathleen Kennedy to make sure they don't come back!!

Years ago I followed Carson and then Leno on the Tonight Show, and Letterman. I rarely turn to watch anymore, about once a month maybe. Could be my age, but I just don't find the current shows funny or entertaining anymore.
For those of you who might care, Re-runs of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson are shown on Antennae T.V. at 9:00 CST. If you can find Antennae T.V. on your system, you might enjoy watching the master Monday thru Friday.
Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

I can help. Here's a few late night jokes for them to use:

Republicans are stupid.

Christians are stupid.

White people are racist.

Global warming deniers!

Guns!!

Trump is stupid.

Hope that helps.
I thought y'all went on strike?

Nightly talk shows including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, are set to go dark starting on Tuesday after writers agreed to strike.

Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Daily Show, which had correspondent Dulc Sloan host this week, also will be hit, while such weekly shows as Saturday Night Live, Real Time with Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will be similarly impacted, though final decisions on those shows are expected to come later in the week.

I haven't been this unaffected by a strike since…since…
not sure why they are shutting shows down - why do they need writers to present material that isn't funny to begin with ?

It's shocking to think that a show like "The Tonight Show" that to an extent undoubtedly started the late-night comedy genre could die with it's third host.
Which are you dismissing Steve Allen or Jack Parr?

If I'm not watching live sports or YouTube videos about things that interest me I'm watching FreeVee TV or Pluto TV. They have about a million episodes of great TV shows you can watch for free so I'm good for about 20 years of writers strike.

To be fair, these shows are impacted because the overall strike is mostly to do with streaming and it's disruption of legacy TV and programming. It's not really accounted for in existing contracts which is why the writers are going on strike. That's my understanding anyway.

Which was really the point of my question earlier....who is watching traditional late night TV because i can't imagine millennials and especially Gen Zombie are watching. And, if they aren't, these shows are already dead.

These shows are impacted, because they lost half the country with their Democrat propaganda.
I stopped watching late night far before streaming, because it was just an excuse for bashing republicans.
And younger democrats have other sources of entertainment.

If shows were actually funny, people would watch. The writers have only themselves to blame.
The propaganda is constant and needless

Agreed which is why I'm confused as to how they are still on the air. Supply is way greater than demand here. I really do think there is some level of corporate support for them that otherwise wouldn't get it because of the politics involved.

Or, maybe, I'm completely wrong and there is plenty of demand here to sustain multiple equal products all used as vehicles for bashing the right. I would just be really surprised by that knowing where demographic interests now lie.

The Woke Mob is going to suffer serious withdrawal symptoms as a result of this. Without Fallon, Kimmel & Colbert whining non-stop about Trump, where are they going to get their late night fix?

Carson's still on every night on Free Antenna TV. He was the man, I still enjoy watching him.

The people that watch Kimmel and Colbert are also the ones that give CNN their "ratings".

Gutfeld writes his own monologues. And his other writers are not union members.

As it turns out, Greg Gutfeld writes his monologues and he and his team are not members of the WGA. Ah, yes, the joys of not being under the thumb of union overlords.
