Hey! Iger! Drop that federal lawsuit, then.
Certainly seems to be headed that direction, this is a prettt obvious symbol they want this to go away. The brand damage has been devastating.

Agree with pricing out the middle class. This is also targeting families with lots of kids. I see DINKSs all the time that qualify as upper class. And it makes me wonder if Disney would prefer it that way which is insane.

No way right? They'd always prefer the family of four from middle America right? I'm not sure anymore seeing how they've catered to a group that isn't even capable of bearing children.

They are catering to groups with lots of disposable income and a willingness to spend it on frivolous things. Middle/upper middle class families of 4+ don't fit that description anymore. DINKs and same sex couples often do.

Plus, the recent failures of their movies has reduced demand for all of the merch associated with them.

It's almost like a cascade of terrible decisions from management just pouring down the waterfall of **** product. Re-run narrative GLBTQ'd-Movies, merchandise, park experience, pricing, woke agenda, ESPN/streaming disasters (including Hulu), dudes in a dress at the little girls going to the princess experience, firing/ditching their DEI obergruppen-fuhrer, you name it.

Fighting with the majority of Florida parents over preaching about gay curricula to 2nd graders was just the cherry on top.

Earnings report(s) to follow.

And yet there are posters on this very website who will tell you that Desantis need's to shut up about culture war stuff and focus solely on the economy.

That's ****ing ridiculous.

That short clip will hit home with 100% of middle America and swing voters that will decide this election.

DeSantis was correct about Disney. Truth be told the state of Florida was looking for a way to get out of the deal with Reedy Creek for a long time. But Disney did a very dumb thing at the wrong time and DeSantis and the Florida legislature saw their chance and took it.

Disney still could have recovered and basically kept Reedy Creek with a few concessions but then they made another boneheaded move with that RAP* King Charles survivors crap, had the same longstanding Disneworld General Counsel sign certifications for bond offerings on behalf of Reedy Creek (major NO-NO!), then went forum shopping for federal judge in Tallahassee.

Yes, it has been a big "win" for DeSantis but about 95% has been Disney shooting themselves in the foot over and over again.

I think you are very on point with the last sentence regarding this being about Disney severely injuring themselves. They either gambled they were to big be at the mercy of DeSantis and the lege or that the public sentiment would be with them.

Instead they played the wrong hand at a moment when woke began its death throes, inflation rising, families cutting spending, and frankly families having many more options for vacation and entertainment.

Ultimately Disney survives but will shed assets as they have been doing. Appreciate all your updates, info sharing and takes. I thought Disney would dig in harder but it seems Iger is indeed in retreat mode.

Will be interesting to see if there emerges a large shareholder who has been putting pressure on Iger. Or he is working to salivate his legacy after Chapek destroyed it.

Haha holy sh** is that real? HARD PASS. Not sure what the budget is but you can pretty much rest assured that thing is going to lose money.

Also, so nice of them to take away potential money-making and career-advancing roles from dwarf actors, who already have a very tough time getting acting gigs in Hollywood. Bet the dwarf acting community is THRILLED.

Liberals are so f'n stupid.

Just looking at the picture the two black "dwarves" have a "I can't believe white folks are so stupid, but I'll happily take the paycheck" while the the other three "dwarves" have a "this is a complete s*** show."

From a legal perspective it may have been 95% on Disney but the political will it took for DeSantis to not only start this fight but continue on with so much pressure to stop or incentives to compromise can't be understated. I mean you are talking about one of the largest brands in America, the largest employer in Florida, and they literally own multiple major television networks and can create their own propaganda.

We just have very few politicians out there that would have stayed the course like DeSantis and "leaned in" like he said he would. He deserves a lot more than 5% of the credit.

With that leaked photo of Blanco Nevada and her ANTIFA midgets I can see that movie never seeing the light of day.

I actually liked the latest Indiana Jones film. It was better than the Crystal Skull.

And from what I have seen with theaters it seems like people simply don't want to line up and sit in a packed theater on opening weekend. That's an anecdotal observation, but we are one of the few families we are friends with who go see movies regularly. We typically wind up taking one of their kids.

But Disney would continue with the colossal stupidity of late if they keep the woke stuff up. And yes, libs are just so dumb.

Pretty sure this has become the go-to thread for the Disney-Desantis battle, so posting this here.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/florida-judge-rules-against-disney-202852634.html

Quote:

A Florida judge on Friday rejected a Walt Disney Co request to dismiss a lawsuit by an oversight district, a move that could make it harder for the entertainment giant to pursue its own case against Governor Ron DeSantis as part of a yearlong feud.

The ruling allows the oversight district to pursue its case that seeks to void "backroom deals" favorable to Disney that were struck with a prior district board earlier this year. If those deals were voided, the district has said it would nearly wipe out Disney's federal case against DeSantis.

Shocker! Lol.

Based on what Hawg has previously posted by actual Florida lawyers and not thoughts from the media or Disney paid sources, this was expected. And its fantastic news. Another round in this battle goes to Desantis and not Disney.

Thanks for posting that. I am not surprised the motion to dismiss was denied here. It was a pretty crappy motion to begin with. Not to mention that Disney's federal lawsuit is also a steaming pile of crap.

Huge difference. No laws allowed the feds to do that yet state laws fully allowed the state legislature to do what they did to not just Reedy Creek but other special districts in Florida

ETA: FTR, state of Florida didn't do a damned thing to Disney proper. But the fact that Disney asserts that they are one and the same as Reedy Creek was all kinds on illegal. Securities fraud, bond issuance fraud, etc. Those districts are supposed to be independent and not beholden to only one landowner within it. That's akin to one Karen running the HOA for thousands of other residents.

No.

ETA: Reedy Creek Special Improvement District is solely a creature of state law. They have, independently, no first amendment rights, to lie on regulaory filings for instance. And Reedy Creek said nothing about the school curriculum law. Disney did. So how can that be retaliation?

I don't believe DeSantis would have taken over the Reedy Creek if not for Disney being woke.

First off they did not tell/force Disney to shut their mouths or even worse hide what Disney said (free speech) they took away special business incentives that Disney had that no one else had. So they did not take away the 1st amendment.

Second, the federal government dictating to a communication platform whose speech is not allowed and whose is allowed is violating the citizens speech on that platform (1st amendment).

What you believe is immaterial to the legality of an action.

It's about what you can prove as it pertains to law.
