DeSantis is not in the wrong. Society at the state level has the right to set standards of morality. Disney is catering to evil mentally ill deviants and rubbing it in the face of the people of Florida. Short term there may be repercussions, long term the people of Florida will decide if it is worth it to take the correct stand. My money is on the people of Florida telling Disney to keep their deviant leanings to themselves and stick to serving moral entertainment to families.

By suing the state for passing a bill that prevents teachers discussing sex with 6 year olds.

The fact that you ask the question says volumes.
People who lack a moral compass always find it hard to understand the choices made by people who are well grounded in faith and family values.

Yeah, the "don't say gay" lie is really old. It's even sadder that people keep believing it and telling it.

I will say, though, growing up with Disney was one thing that brought joy to me and kids and adults and it's sad that it's even got to this contentious point. And I'm old enough to remember story book records.

Yes before DVDs, you would listen to the movie on the record and follow in a story book. I actually still have them. Too bad I drew in a lot of them.

To this day I can still sing just about any song in any Disney movie made from the beginning through the late 70s.

Politics has just pervaded into everything these days and it's not right. On either side.

I'm not talking about what DeSantis is trying to do here, so no one get upset about that.

I'm just talking about in general. It's sad where we are as a country right now.

And to each their own, but that is why I'm not a boycotter. I refuse to take things in life that give me joy and quit doing them just to get angry, or even with or try to prove a point to someone who will never care what I think or believe or have much affect on anything. And we can argue about that if other people wanna live their lives miserable and not doing things to try to prove political point that's up to them, but I will not. Life is too ****ing short.

So for those of you save your ****ing lectures. And live your life the way you want and I will live mine the way I want.

Where we are as a country has little to do with politics, DeSantis, or Disney... we're a godless society that places more faith in folks spewing hate on social media than the truth of God's Word - which was accelerated immensely by the Covid lie and lock downs.

DeSantis' actions - or inactions - here wouldn't raise an eyebrow but for the LGBTQ goons deciding children were fair game and anyone that opposed that was some hate filled "homophobe."

DeSantis/Florida GOP pass a bill that prohibits topics of a sexual nature being discussed in Florida public school classroom by teachers or school administration. The law is applicable to kindergarten thru third grade (5 thru 9 year old students in public schools).

DeSantis, the Florida GOP, and apparently an overwhelming majority of Florida voters find this to be very reasonable legislation.

Disney went full tilt on willfully and purposely engaging in state politics by publicly opposing the legislation and spreading lies and deceit about the bill, claiming it was anti-gay and anti-trans, hence the "don't say gay" thing that never existed. The bill simply removes sexuality from curriculum for 5 to 9 year olds.

I'd say that Disney attacked DeSantis, not the other way around. They went on the attack, he has countered.

And yes, sexualizing 5 to 9 year olds is deviant and evil.

Ah sorry, you are right. Disney was defending teachers discussing sex with 6 year olds, and lying about what was in the bill to ban teaching sex to 6 year olds. Florida took away their special privileges that allow them to compete unequally versus other corporation in the state as a result. Disney is suing because they don't think it's wrong to discuss sex with 6 year olds or lie about that being what is in the bill, but it is wrong for them to compete on an equal playing field.

Better?

Corporations spend billions of dollars over many years to create a brand that you trust. A strong brand drives growth and value for the corporation by influencing more people to buy with little inertia. In other words, they want you to want their product and not think twice about it. Make no mistake, when they wade into politics it's for the same reason. And unfortunately, Disney is a brand I can no longer trust and it will take years to build it back. Until then, I'll take my grand kids to national parks, sea world, etc. Lots of better options for kids.

The conflict between the up-and-coming Republican and the company behind Mickey Mouse started when Disney, responding to protests from its own employees, criticized the "Don't Say Gay" bill limiting discussions about sexual and gender identity in the classroom.

DeSantis, who signed the bill into law, decided to take punitive action, stripping the company of its privileged tax status and creating a new board to oversee Disney's special taxing district. Not to be outfoxed, Disney struck a multi-decade deal with the outgoing board members days before the new, DeSantis-appointed one took over.

After the new board rendered the agreement null and void, Disney struck back with force and filed a lawsuit against the governor and his oversight board, claiming that he weaponized his political power to punish the company for exercising its free speech rights. With each side digging its heels in, the conflict is turning into a quagmire.
It is well known that lawmakers in Florida have proposed legislation that could impact Disney's special tax district status. The proposed legislation would change the requirements for such districts and will make it more difficult for Disney to maintain its current status. The questions lingering would be why is now the time to change anything after the trillions of dollars Disney has brought to the Florida economy over the years?

Governor DeSantis has targetted Disney, particularly in regards to Disney's COVID-19 policies.

How about breaking a deal with Disney that the state made with Walt Disney to bring them there in the first place.

Doesn't seem like he is doing anything illegal.

If the courts are okay with it it must be legal and moral without a smidgen of corruption.

Just like all the changes to election law that were found totally legal in 2020. And the total lack of election fraud the courts found in 2020.

If the courts are okay with it. That makes it okay.
It doesn't make it ethical at all. It doesn't make it right, and frankly, it sets a precdent for other special taxing districts in Florida and elsewhere to have the sovereign jurisdiction break faith whenever they choose. It is no different than the US retrading a Reservation deal with Native Americans or contacting Abraham Zapruders heirs and compelling them to return a portion of the funds paid to Zapruder for the Kennedy film.

Nahhh man.

You have told to us shut up about election fraud and that a stolen election was okay because the courts have decided that nothing bad happened in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

That means that we should believe the courts on everything.

The courts said this was okay.

So it must be okay. Otherwise what the courts say doesn't really matter as far as right and wrong goes and then you have to go shove all those 81 million votes right back where the sun don't shine.

You don't get to have it both ways.

Either the courts are the final arbiter of right and wrong or they aren't.

Which is it?

Teaching boys and girls about anything that naturally occurs in nature is not deviant and evil.

Is it more of your belief that we should relay to them more of a biblical education?

Teaching 8 year olds the techniques of anal sex oral sex, or any sex is wrong. Period.

That is for the parents to teach or not teach at that age.

What schools are teaching these things? Do you have the names and locations of any schools who have actually done this? I always see people talking about it on here, but I don't know anyone who has had this happen at their kids schools. And it hasn't happened at any of the schools my kids have attended.

My money is on the people of Florida telling Disney to keep their deviant leanings to themselves and stick to serving families with moral entertainment.
This is a remarkable claim.

Then you haven't been paying attention to the numerous posts from the last couple years.

Question: if no one was doing it, why were all the teachers/activists/Disney freaking out about it? Should have been a non-issue, no?

Please be very clear: do you believe 5-9 is an appropriate age to be teaching sexuality and gender fluidity to kids?
Define what you mean by sexuality and gender fluidity.

If by those terms you mean do I believe it is appropriate to let children know it is ok be a boy, a girl or somewhere in between and they can make the determination about that as they learn more about themselves?

I'd probably be even more restrictive than that, but sure. Do you think that's ok?
Yes and no. I am huge proponent of personal freedom but I also think it is very dangerous to mislead children or to push an agenda on them. As a former academic, my thought on educating is to provide the student with a tool set to critically analyze information and to let them make a decision for themselves. I see no difference here.
