We couldn't even have calculators in calculus, EA or differential equations in HS. Such a bummer.

I'm torn. Student was clearly disrespectful and initiated physical contact. However the sub's response was obviously excessive, especially given their size disparity. So maybe she doesn't go to jail, but I don't think she need to go back in a classroom.
So you're who we were calling late at night about the "free monkeys"!Cinco Ranch Aggie said:My mom worked for the phone company. As a teacher, tell the kids when they can have their phones out and when they can't. They either comply and life is good or they don't and they end up in the office. It's really not that big of an issue if you can manage a classroom.

I got suspended for 3 days in middle school for having a pager that didn't even work. My dad took it up with the administration and they let me make up all my work when I got back. So my dad and I took a 3 day camping trip.Gyles Marrett said:
Schools were STUPID to ever go away from a no tolerance policy on phones in the classroom. Ours had to be turned off an in your backpack if you had one. You'd likely see grades improve drastically and discipline issued fall drastically.
cheaper than private. Paid party line rate but no one else in the area wanted a party line so we were the only house on the line.BTKAG97 said:Curious if anyone under 40 knows what a party line is.93MarineHorn said:You had your own phone? Lucky! My house had a phone.Quote:
