The Jews wanted Jesus arrested because the Jews were afraid Jesus was becoming too popular and he was disrupting their graft and corruption at the temple in Jerusalem and afraid he would become more powerful than they were. The Jews believed Jesus to be a blasphemous revolutionary, not the Son of God.

The commie dims along with establishment R's want Trump arrested to prevent him from being reelected and adversely affecting their graft and corrution schemes. And they see Trump as a threat to their authoritarian power schemes.

Probably a pretty good comparison.
