This is what a corrupt DOJ and dim party media machine look like...

It's exactly the bull**** dims pull when inviting the EPA to be sued over environmental issues so they can pay out awards to their own benefactors. A complete lack of honesty or integrity.

Quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) Former President Donald Trump can be sued by injured Capitol Police officers and Democratic lawmakers over the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Justice Department said Thursday in a federal court case testing Trump's legal vulnerability for his speech before the riot.

In court papers, the Justice Department urged a federal appeals court in Washington to allow the lawsuits to move forward, writing that "no part of a President's official responsibilities includes the incitement of imminent private violence."

The Justice Department said it took no position on the lawsuits' claims that the former president's words incited the attack on the Capitol. Nevertheless, Justice Department lawyers said the court should reject Trump's argument that "absolutely immunity" shields him from being sued because the remarks were in line with his official duties.

Source? Case references?

The President doesn't need to invoke the immunity until it is needed. His lawyers do not need to argue it until that point, so that is not validation.

I am not wrong. I could be wrong, but its most certainly not settled science.

I sitting POTUS could roll up and shoot anyone in the middle of Times Square. You would have to prove that he knew and acted against his oath of office and even then the remedy / process is impeachment.

Unless you can find a case where a President has been held criminally or civilly responsible for conduct occurring whilst in office, then we must agree to disagree.

I admit my take is not a popular one, but its a direct one based on the US Constitution. And allowing a POTUS to be civilly or criminally liable for acts that they may consider in line with their official duties is a most dangerous step in our short history as a Country.

Respect you have a different view, but unless you have further info I do not believe you can state I am "wrong".

Without a doubt, Trump either failed to recognize the potential for mob violence and therefore, did nothing to prevent it, OR he knew what he was doing and didn't care.

Either way, it's his leadership failure to own, but I don't agree with allowing him to be sued for it.

Bull***** And we still don't know how many in the crowd were paid government agitators.

We do know that Trump tried to provide more security but Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell refused to do so multiple times.

So can we sue Pelosi too since she denied additional security? Or how about Wray since the FBI boys were there but didn't intervene (likely instigated)

It's a moot point. I know there were plenty of PROVEN agitators in the crowd who were Trumpers.

If the whole episode was created as a "trap," and neither of us know that it wasn't, it isn't a moot point.

I know that people spent a long time in jail for doing nothing more than walking through a door opened by police. Why?

I posted this on another thread, but it seems relevant here too.

Watch around the 8:36 min mark, and you can clearly see that this looks like an operation by the fbi to incite people to violence against the federal government. Ashley Babbitt was among the people near the front who were being urged to go into the capitol by undercover agents highlighted in photos.

Seems like that should help Trump's case.

If I may, I would like to clear this up a bit.

DemocRat politicians are human garbage, and disgusting human beings. The people that vote for them are either the same, or just plain Useful Idiots. Both have zero ethical or moral boundaries whatsoever.

Without a doubt Trump offered National Guard forces that were refused by Pelosi, who was in charge of security at Congress.

Pelosi refusal to supply adequate security is on her and the Democrat leadership that controlled her more so than Trump, who specifically asked for peaceful protest.

I can't stand Trump, but using Peggy Noonan as a source is like using Michael Moore or Joy Behar.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

The fact that President Trump specifically asked for peaceful protest is completely ignored by the Democratic Party leadership, their minions in the bureaucracies and the MSM.

We are living in dangerous times as the Democratic Party leadership is actively ignoring the law, the Constitution and is hell bent on suppressing civil liberties and states rights.

Anyone considering voting for any Democratic candidate should immediately reconsider their voting preferences. The 2024 elections are rapidly coming up and we need to elect people that uphold the rule of law and take the Constitution seriously.
