Even 40" is fat if you are 4'8" to 5'10" tall.

Forget about the Mario ride at Universal, the airlines should have done this 40 years ago or made those that are larger buy two seats, one to accommodate each cheek.

I wonder how much inflation might help people lose weight. It will be interesting to see if any of the metrics go down over the next year or so.

Less healthy, cheaper alternatives may rule the day. I'll take the over.

I'm 6'3" and 220lbs. I could ride it. I'm hardly a small person.
I'm 6'3" and 275 and don't have a 40-inch waistline.

You're sitting right around 39.5" though.

Well yeah but damn that is sad with a big dude like me not being average. I definitely consider myself overweight and could lose 30 bs easily to get back to my college self. I would've guessed 36 is the average.

They will rule, but they don't have to.

Plenty of healthy choices that aren't wallet busting

If the average waistline really is 40, I feel pretty damn good about my 34.
Me too. 6'3" and and have a 34. And I've been trying to get back to a 33 or 32 which was fighting weight for me in my 20's.

40" average is just insane. Wonder what the average was in 1990.

This just confirms that Peach never wanted to be smashed by fat Mario… she was always looking at tall and in-shape Luigi.
Rosalina too. She just uses Mario for what she needs and then peaces right out. Thanks for all the stars, chump!

Maybe this is the motivation some need to shed the inches/weight!

No need to go overboard

True, but "fat" and "lazy" often go hand in hand. Shopping in the middle of the store or grabbing McD's is easier.

Bowser and Donkey Kong are disappointed they don't get to ride because of their size.

Yeah, I've tried to politely say something like that before. Ended about the same as the chick at the end.

Critics are blasting the new Super Nintendo attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood as "blatantly fatphobic" because the augmented reality dark ride has a size restriction that will leave many Americans with larger waistlines on the sidelines.

The .... ride.... warns riders with a waistline measuring 40 inches or more that they may not be allowed to ride.

The average American waist circumference measures 40.5 inches for men and 38.7 inches for women, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Universal Studios is looking at ways to update rides to fit more guests, NBCUniversal told the Wall Street Journal.

throwing this in for LOLZ
you can search twitter for more.

Losing a bit of weight to get to ride a Mario ride is reasonable. The benefits to your health for doing so are wonderful.

Two takeaways from this thread.

Holy ****

and

2) Anyone crying over a Mario kart ride is not an actual adult.
