Look, I've never been a "not another dime" type alumni, but I'm seriously getting there. Why? Because we have evidence this is actually causing harm to the students:

This study states students of all races feel less welcome on campus than they did in 2015. Why? Because A&Ms focus used to be on the things that made Aggies, Aggies. Not DEI.

I think we all need to point out the real harm these things are doing. If you donate significant funds to the University, I'd consider the effect these programs are having on students, including taking actions like this:

A&M needs to be brought back to its core purpose for the good of all students.

Said this on the last thread.
BOR needs to fire, for cause, any administrator involved in this. IF they won't do it, then Abbott needs to wholesale replace the BOR.

On Friday, the Texas A&M Board of Regents minced no words in response to inflammatory allegations by Scott Yenor.
Quote:

Setting the Record Straight

Response to Opinion Piece, "How Texas A&M Went Woke"

On February 13, 2023, an opinion piece by Scott Yenor was published by The American Mind: a publication of The Claremont Institute [Center for the American Way of Life], a 501(c)3 think tank for which Yenor works.

In the published opinion piece and report, Yenor attempted to formulate a wide-ranging opinion based on disparate information. Sources cited by Yenor are presented out of context, using outdated information and in some cases are a compilation of data that is simply not correct.

For example, Yenor references a report, which he also authored, issued in February 2023 by The Claremont Institute [Center for the American Way of Life] that refers to documents released by Texas A&M University in 2010 and 2020, which were prepared and released by past university administrations.

However, Texas A&M University is currently following guidance on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives described in the Regents' Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion released by The Texas A&M System Board of Regents in January 2021.

Below is a snapshot of misinformation that was used as the foundation of those opinion pieces.

BOR ain't gonna do sheeeet. The responses below are full of things like:
- "oh yeah we did that 2-3 months ago; but that's all changed now... maybe"
- "there's not 'university wide policy' for this; but just about every department is doing it, unofficially of course, maybe"

All the responses above are a misstep by the BOR; they've been threatened by someone and are reacting ... why they chose this no-name Yenor guy to respond to so vociferously smacks of a caught-in-the-act reaction and denial.

This goes back to Perry putting his lefty buddy in charge, Sharp.

Perry screwed up big time and should have realized it in time to can him. This stuff was coming down the pipe mid 2000's

Until these loons stop getting hired and start getting fired, then this onslaught will continue.

A huge part of the problem was the left wing academic Michael K. Young the BOR unfortunately hired as our President. His tenure was May 1, 2015 thru December 31, 2020. Funny how those dates correlate with the negative trends in the chart showing how students across all races increasingly feel they don't belong at A&M. It's clear DEI policies are severely damaging campus culture and student cohesion. It's a destructive, racist policy that cultivates animosity.

It was under his administration that most of this DEI crap got started, or at least took root and started thriving. Hiring him was a massive strategic mistake. Hopefully Katherine Banks and the BOR are doing everything they can to root out the problems and fix it. A&M should be a colorblind meritocracy. It is the only right and fair way to function.

If anyone on staff can't get on board with that, they should be summarily fired. Same for the BOR. Get rid of DEI in totality or lose your seat.

This.

Almost all of their responses are: Well we did that up until recently. We are currently evaluating how/if we will change these programs. Also we are no worse than tu.

First of all....IDGAF if tu is just as bad as A&M. Bad is bad and using tu as a metric is a piss poor metric.

Second of all- changing the programs does not mean doing away with them. They very well could become more extreme with the changes that they are evaluating.

It is very telling that nowhere in their reply did they make a commitment to can these programs that make racial divisions and friction worse and are racist to the core.

Not another ****ing dime.

As long as A&M is committed to DEI, I believe we should honor their ideals and refrain from diluting the diversity of their charitable contributions.

Never trust a guy who gets caught cheating on his wife with the young wife of a prominent donor. First, they are untrustworthy liars and second, they are creeps. We hired Young knowing these facts. That BOR was negligent.
