When the internet becomes awash with deep fakes such that anything digital can be assumed to be fake, even phone calls, there will be no way to discern humans from AI for most NPCs. Then the government will magically come to the table with a """solution""" that is a digital ID to verify that you are human. This will in turn be used to track everything and anything you do online including even accessing the internet or your bank.

Not much has ever spooked me from the dissident sphere but this concept absolutely does. Watch the video, it spells it all out a lot better, it's just 4 minutes long.

Worse than being hacked would be deletion. Imagine deleting someone's digital ID. You would effectively make them citizen less and stateless. They would be a non-person without it. The future is looking bleaker and bleaker.
