It's not an either or choice. We could do both. I'd like a better understanding of what the ongoing problem is. What help is needed? Are agencies testing the ground water and surfaces for contamination? I know that the big toxic release was volatiles and phosgene which dissipate in contact with air and water, and should no longer be a health concern. What remaining contamination is a concern? What do the people need help with? Do they need water until their wells can be verified clean?

I bet Biden going there would increase donations easily by 2-3x based on publicity. Perhaps more. Reality of news and that eyeballs are where $$ flow. That is why Biden is in Ukraine.

Wasn't this argument made for every military action the U.S. has been involved with for a long time? "Why spend money on other countries instead of helping our own?". This isn't new. The fires in California, and every other man made disaster. I understand there plight....But the government can spend money on both...Its a false narrative to suggest only one or the other.

It sucks that the media isn't reporting on it much but there are agencies tasked with dealing with this type of thing that should be working in the background and FOR SURE some plaintiffs lawyers are setting up independent testing to build class action cases.
