Trump is running solely because of his historically large ego and to evade multiple civil lawsuits and criminal prosecutions. DeSantis threatens that.

All politicians have large egos, including DeSantis, Biden, Clintons, Trump, etc. The question is which ego will do the best job. Answer: Trump, the proven warrior.

"Proven warrior" who lost the GOP three elections in a row?

Use the same pic when Trumpers get twisted up anytime someone criticizes Trump.

Trump supporters get upset when a weaponized DOJ/FBI raids his house and surveils his campaign.

Desantis sensitivity brigade gets upset when Trump posts mean things.

Ironic that you use this pic when you cry and scream "police brutality" if a cop looks at you the wrong way.

Some interesting comments from the National Review at https://www.nationalreview.com/2023/02/trump-is-getting-squeezed-left-and-right/

Quote:

For a confrontational approach in the culture war, does the GOP want more of Trump's jokes about Rosie O'Donnell? Or does it want more victories such as the one Ron DeSantis racked up this month when he challenged the College Board on its African-American Studies course and won a major concession? DeSantis is kicking off a conservative counterrevolution on education.

Most Americans could not have told you what "DEI" meant in 2015. But it rapidly expanded its reach in private and state institutions during the Trump presidency. Now, Ron DeSantis is defunding it in Florida's education system.

Trump was also the candidate in 2016 for people who didn't quite trust American institutions, or who questioned authoritative opinion on the efficacy of vaccines or the trustworthiness of Big Pharma. Now all those people are flocking to DeSantis. Not as much because he has shared or expressed their direst views, but because he has used the tools of his office and a rhetoric of American freedom to guarantee that they can safely navigate normal life, and that the social contract won't be completely rewritten in a crisis.

Trump's hard-line views on immigration are now widely shared in the Republican Party. And on that issue, DeSantis has drawn as much attention to himself, by flying asylum seekers to Martha's Vineyard, as anyone has.

Great post and spot on!

The sad thing is that Trump had so much opportunity to do so much more. Good Trump was going after the dems and taking zero sh** off the MSM. Bad Trump was acting neurotic and trashing fellow republicans to the point that he literally created the "never Trumpers" himself. They still don't get it. You can't win without a big tent. Maybe once, but your allies have to be deep and wide.
Yep ! Trump's problem is he is ALL about Trump. He doesnt give a damn about the Conservative movement. Granted he is better than ANY Demorat but that is not saying much.

DeSantis 2024.

Its funny...because Trump loses his mind if someone posts anything derogatory about him. Or perhaps you forgot about Twitter from 2017-2020. Like the Trumpa Loompa Doompety do

I think trump is getting more and more desperate for attention and also realizing his biological clock is running out. He will get more outrageous as the field gets crowded and probably take himself out by saying something so stupid his kids or someone will step up and kill his campaign. I know predicting his demise has made many people wrong in the past but it appears to me he is becoming more unhinged everyday.

One thing for sure you live long enough you'll see it all……….
Uh...

Ivanka already stepped away from the campaign before it began my friend

Ivanka Trump announced on Tuesday that she doesn't plan to be involved in former President Donald Trump's campaign, issuing a statement to CNN minutes after her father announced another run for the White House.

"This time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics," said Trump, who did not attend Tuesday night's event. "While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena."

CNN reported last week that Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner would not campaign on behalf of Donald Trump.

Stepping away is not what I meant. Killing would be an active denunciation of something he said. It wouldn't surprise me at this point if he used a racial slur against Haley or threated to nuke Great Britain!

The fact that a guy like DeSantis, who regularly calls out the media and woke agenda, is considered an 'establishment' pick shows how far the party has shifted. A DeSantis would have been considered a 'radical' in the party going against the Bush family, McCain, or Romney.
it's more that desantis recognizes that the "establishment" has a mercurial definition and is savvy enough to navigate around it. if you look at his resume it's basically your prototypical republican presidential hopeful: undergrad at yale (like the bushes), joined DKE (like the bushes), played baseball (like the bushes), grad school at harvard (like the bushes), joined the military (like the bushes), served as a us congressman (like bush senior), then governor of a large state (like bush jr.). no private sector experience outside of a year teaching before law school.

but, he punches back against the media and wokeness, so even if he's got the resume of a bush and isn't exactly a "drain the swamp" type he comes off as "not establishment".
I lost you. You pointed out how he was like the Bushes then said he comes off as not establishment? I definitely consider the Bushs "establishment".
what i mean is desantis has the pedigree and upbringing of an establishment republican. he's a career politician who was incubated in the same social, educational, and political system as the bushes. by those measures, seems like desantis is pretty establishment. but he avoids that perception with the occasional calculated potshot against biden, the msm, or wokeness.

is he going to drain the swamp as president? i highly doubt it. but i expect he'll continue throwing red meat to people who want him to on the way there.

An establishment guy would have kept his state locked down during covid. Desantis looked at the numbers and said this is all bull**** and told his state let's get back to work.

Now, maybe he turns into a typical swamp guy, but right now he's not looking like it.

I really liked Trump as President. He said and did some stupid s*** and was his own worst enemy at times, but there is no doubt he had the right enemies and drove them out of their freaking minds. He did some things that even Reagan couldn't/wouldn't. And if he is the candidate, I will support him warts and all.

But all that doesn't mean he is the best candidate, or that he would win this time. And these statements he makes tearing down other qualified candidates show he is tremendously narcissistic. And I get the very strong feeling that if he is defeated in the primaries, he will not be a good soldier and get behind the candidate; that he will consider a third party run and gift the Dems with another 4 year administration from hell.

So to all the always Trumpers out there, I ask if Trump is defeated in the primaries as he probably will be, will you support him if he fires up a third party candidacy, condemning the nation to being cannon fodder for another Dem presidency, or will you support the candidate who can actually win with equal fervency?

This stuff is hilariously bad. We will look back in 50 years at this 8 year stretch of Trump and Biden running the major parties and be like WTF were we thinking.

This is a strange thread for such heavy moderation - I've had two benign responses deleted.

My guess is one of the small number of Trump crybabies is doing what they have been doing best for the last 2 years

And I am a proud voter for Trump, twice. I appreciate what he did, and when he did it. But his ego is now completely getting in the way of the the America first stance he claimed was important to him. It's time to move aside, and like a lot of narcissistic powerful leaders, he cannot do it himself. So unfortunately he will have to have his legacy tarnished by being pushed aside.

The bigger disappointment is how lame Trumps new nicknames are.

Low energy Jeb, Lyin Ted, crooked Hillary, Creepy Porn lawyer, mini Mike Bloomberg, little Marco were fantastic names.

Meatball Ron not very good.

So the latest desperation from Trump is to claim DeSantis is a RINO because he wants Medicare and Social Security reform!

You can't make this stuff up folks! Big spending, entitlement loving, squishy on 2nd amendment, pro abortion calling DeSantis "RINO".

And your god will never be President again.

All you're going to do is ensure Newsome is sworn in in 2025.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
