She's right....

This child really is an accessory (hand luggage) for this gay 'couple'.

I don't know much about it... But she agreed to the terms and I presume took the cash.

The baby didn't agree to any of it.

Purposely making a baby (that will never have a mother) for the purpose of giving it away is wrong. I don't care what sexual orientation the adoptive parents are.

Wow, hand luggage? An accessory? They paid hundreds of thousand of dollars and their own time and effort for a living Gucci bag?

How do you know that?

I'll be sure to tell my gay friends in Dallas who now have 2-4 children of their own the same route that they've been raising something to make them look good.

The hate on this board is next level and out of control on many different aspects.

This is a family. The people who tweeted differently are disgusting humans

How do I know that? Ummm, you should read the guy's tweet at the start of this thread. That's what he called the baby.

In this instance I agree it is very poor. But I know many infertile couples that have used a surrogate and her belief that the practice is sick and selfish is not accurate.

It's a very light hearted joke.

I know 4 gay families in Texas with 1-4 children. The children are not abused, happy, and love their dads. They do well in school, have friends, and are well adjusted.

And you, have a picture of a gay family and think you know anything about them.

It's sad, and dangerous.

Just curious.. are you Catholic? By your comments on another thread it appeared that you might be.

There's a lot of truth in their 'joke'. And I agree, it is sad and dangerous.

And did you flag my 'sad face' in the original post.

Yes. Don't bother with the Catholics view surrogacy as immoral crap. I'm well aware. There is plenty that the Church gets wrong and there is a reason I am non-practicing even as the son of a Catholic Deacon.

Maybe they don't live in a world where every right wing conservative person is overanalyzing every word they say? And that people around them actually believe that they are good intentioned people?

You're literally posting a tweet of a brand new family excited about their new lives in order to make fun of them simply because they are gay. It is unbelievably hateful, and not worthy of any real discussion. You should be ashamed of yourself.

End the commoditization of human life. If you choose to forgo the procreative lifestyle, you have no right to a child. What a sick society that intentionally deprives a child of their mother at the whims of the highest bidders.

How do you know it is a "light hearted joke"? Shouldn't joking about that be nearly as egregious as meaning it?

You should be ashamed thinking it's okay to call a child hand luggage. But yeah, keep pretending you're the moral authority.

eh, who cares? it was a weird thing to say i guess... lots of hetero folks have kids and completely ignore/neglect them. Seems like this family/kiddo will be just fine.

I've never actually thought that much about surrogacy in any way, really. Some people who cant have kids do it on occasion as well.

Anything that removes procreation from the procreative act becomes a moral issue. The ends don't justify the means, and the good end of wanting a child doesn't justify the commoditization of that process. It's the top of a slippery slope, especially if you believe life begins at conception.

It's a human life, not a toy poodle for you to dress up and carry around in a handbag while you go to bottomless mimosa brunches.

Even if a joke dudes too stupid to raise a kid if he didn't realize that it's crass.

There is a very easy route for a surrogate mom to have her own child.

She just has to pay for it.

I'm just trying to imagine the reactions from my friends/family if I ever referred to one of them as a piece of luggage and/or baggage. Especially a newly adopted baby. Tone deaf at the bare minimum.

Maybe in time this group will look like a family, but at this point that tweet comes off as two gay dudes and an accessory.

No it's not. You're just overly sensitive to the one or two posters who are hateful.

99% of the posters have zero problems with gay people.

It's the forced corruption of our children and the groomers they have a problem with.

The road to hell is paved with "good intentions".

Creating a child with the specific knowledge you will be denying it a mother and father and to satisfy your own personal desire to "have a child" is sick and narcissistic. Society should condemn such acts in the harshest terms. It deserves mockery and scorn.

So having a desire to dedicate your life to having children is narcissistic…

But you're not narcissistic for the holier than thou way you declare your way is the only way?

Abortion is only about a woman's right to choose, and the subject in the OP can only be discussed as a beautiful union between two loving parents and their new bought-and-paid-for human baby. Suggestions that there are other risks and considerations are strictly verboten, and come with penalties.

The concerned gay contingent here don't really want to discuss the matter, they're just here as noble

It's really no different than people referring to their kids as "precious cargo" it's a light hearted joke.

My friend is a pastor and he and his wife adopted a kid from a woman who was giving the child up for adoption. All of it was arranged before the child was born, is this "tearing the child away from it's mother" equally as reprehensible? Would it have been better to let the child grow up in an orphanage?

You can debate the pros and cons of a same sex couple rearing children. And how not having a mother or father in the picture may harm the kid. To be honest I think there will be some issues that come from that. But getting all bent out of shape about a common phrase is silly.
