And for those wondering why this is a problem; it is because it trickles down to schools and universities who require students to follow AP style in papers. It is why you see "Black" capitalized everywhere now, but not "White," even though it is not and has never been a proper noun.

And amazingly, most replies are mocking them.

People already understand the implied groupings, and what they are composed of.

"The French" for example. People understand the implication that has existed for at least a millennia that this denotes a category of people who are of French origin or nationality, in efficient concise terms.

I'd argue it's actually humanizing to use those descriptors.

Synonymy isn't a human trait. No two humans are the same. Our differences is one of the things that define us. Using descriptive words, both flattering and not, is a very humanizing thing to do.
