Disturbing photos show garbage bags full of sandwiches and bagels awaiting disposal at the four-star Row NYC hotel near Times Square, where the city pays a daily rate as high as $500 per room, hotel employee Felipe Rodriguez told The Post.

"It's a crime to be throwing out so much food," he said.

City Hall has refused to say how much it pays to rent out the Row or any of the scores of other hotels being used to house migrants.

But Rodriguez said he's "heard from management it's between $400 and $500 a night, per room, depending on how big the room is."

I don't know how much of it is entitlement vs cultural shock. Essentially you give a person who comes from poverty in Central America a bagel and they don't know what it is. They just want to heat up some beans on a cooker like they have done all their life. Most likely aren't used to someone cooking their food for them and they especially aren't used to the cuisine. In a way it's like Crocodile Dundee. Most of these folks have likely never stayed in a hotel that is above a cheap Motel 6 in South Texas and suddenly you put them in a 4 Star in Manhattan.

Then of course you do have entitlement issue that is valid but I think the cultural shock is just as relevant to the problem.

Concerning the hotel cost, maybe it would be more practical to house them in smaller cities in NY or NJ?


I have not spent many nights in NYC, but I don't remember Red Roof Inns or Motel 6s.

Free lunch and breakfast kids been doing this for years. Then hit the snack machines with more money in their pocket than I ever had until I got out of college.

I just got back from NYC and you can get a big ass cheese pizza for $8 at 100s of street restaurants. Yet they are providing them with all this other crap they won't eat. SEND THEM BACK! SEND THEM BACK! SEND THEM BACK!

Best solution is to fingerprint them and then deport them. Caught here illegally a second time, 10 years at hard labor. Their work can offset the food and housing costs.

Next best solution is to house them in tents and feed them for a week. After that, cut the volume of food to half what it was in previous week. No food at all after that. They will go to work or go back where they came from.

Couldn't agree more. I'm also confident that instead of actually fixing the fundamental problem they will instead find ways to spend even more money and resources to coddle these folks. What idiot serves that stuff to that target group? Odds are nobody at that high dollar catering company knows what a tortilla or pinto beans is. The kickbacks on this contract in NYC must be enormous.

I think this exposure is great. Having had illegals camp out by the road and break into our place in Carrizo, it is great for America to see what they really do. In every break in (4 total before we bought a place closer to Alice to get away from it) they left freezers and refrigerators wide open, broke sliding glass doors vs a window to get in, and left the water running on two occasions. It's one thing to be in need and grateful, it's another to be destructive and purposefully wasteful.

T&P to the housekeeping crew, who now have to unload garbage cans FULL of used SH*Tpaper in the bathrooms. The illegals refuse (or are too ignorant) to understand that our sewer system is capable of disposing of that. I truly hate this about the illegals.
