This is what we need to be encouraging. I don't think the market can support everything made in the US, but we need to stop investing in the far east and start building manufacturing in central and south america. Spend our time and effort stabilizing this hemisphere and re-enact the Monroe Doctrine.
We need to keep China away from this side of the world and fortify it with industry. Also, muscle our way back into controlling the Panama Canal. Giving that up was one of the stupidest ideas of the 20th century.
We are much better off cultivating a more beneficial relationship with Panamanians, than trying to "muscle" back into control of the Canal.
Telling China to piss up a rope on their ideas to create a "canal" across Costa Rica or Nicaraugua or wherever they are proposing it will show more stand up friendship than peeing on Panama's leg and telling them it's raining.
Ask those Panamanians, who chose Texas A&M for their education, how they see a good relationship with the USA. I guarantee there are more than one or two... and they very well could be movers and shakers in Panama.
It won't be taking over the Canal, fer sure.
