What should the 28th Amendment be in your opinion? I think it should be term limits for Supreme Court Justices and my friend thinks it should prohibit abortion nationwide.

I don't think we should have career politicians, but I also don't know why we need a law if we can just vote them out. I'm all for limits for judges, though.

Yet another place where ranked choice voting might help.

Because the system has become so corrupt its no longer really possible to vote out entrenched politicians, and there is no check on the tyrrany of generational judge appointments.

SCOTUS should get 12 years imo. It guarantees them 3 changes of govt, and should keep one party from locking up to many scouts appointments at once.

65 is a bit extreme. Ben Franklin was too old to be part of the Continental Congress? John Adams would not have been able to complete his four years as President. Sam Houston would have had to resign as Senator, and could never have served as Governor of Texas. Eisenhower wouldn't have been president. Nick Saban is too feeble to be a lawmaker. I could go for 72. Most of the district judges I know are over 65.

A constitutional amendment saying EVERY law passed must have a sunset provision with an expiration date and would need to be re legislated to continue with 3/4 congressional support.

Congressional bills can only cover one subject each, fully legible, and placed in public before a vote can be held.

One issue, one bill.

Congresspeople should have to work all week 8-5 voting on and debating bills. A two week break for Christmas.

28th AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

SECTION 1: The Annual Purge shall begin each year on March 21 at sunset, officially starting at 7PM, and ending at sunrise, March 22, at 7AM.

SECTION 2: During the time of The Purge, any and all crime, up to and including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Police, fire and hospital aid will be unavailable until The Purge concludes.

SECTION 3: The following weapons cannot be used during The Purge: weapons of mass destruction, fragment-producing explosives higher than a hazard class HC/D 1.4 and viral contagion projectiles. Recommended weapons: A.R. rifles and handguns of caliber 6.2 and all bladed weaponry.

SECTION 4: Government officials of ranking 5 and higher have been granted immunity from The Purge and shall not be harmed.

SECTION 5: Non-compliance with any of the aforementioned rules will result in death by hanging.

The fictional 28th Amendment from The Purge. Luckily, it's not real

It's been more than thirty years since the 27th Amendment was ratified: The amendment eventually became part of the United States Constitution, effective May 5, 1992, completing a record-setting ratification period of 202 years, 7 months, and 10 days, beating the previous record set by the Twenty-second Amendment of 3 years and 343 days.

Define voting fraud and/or accessory to voting fraud to be treason and subject to the same penalties

Quote:

2381. Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Either repeal the 19th or limit federal voting to only net federal tax payers.

Universal suffrage is pure lunacy. Think about how dumb the average American is and then realize that half are dumber than that.

I don't get this. Wisdom comes with experience. Certainly, if an individual demonstrates they are intellectually deteriorating, then steps may need to be taken. However, I would prefer someone with age and wisdom vs youth that might bend to and fro with the winds of public opinion.

Every bill voted on by congress should be limited in size to something that could actually be read by each member in a reasonable amount of time before voting on it.

Ideally they would vote on each line item and not have these all or nothing bills (that usually turn into all). I want to see each of them vote on sending money to other countries for gender studies and on border security funding for our own country as separate votes.

We'd learn alot about our congress people.

Judges are the ones I don't think should have an age limit. If there is one, it should be north of 75.

I would like to see an amendment for term limits for Congress. Perhaps 2 senate terms and 4 house terms, a total of 20 years max in the federal legislature. There is value in having veteran members in the legislature, but not too long, lest we get another Pelosi and Biden.

Balanced Budget amendment should be the next amendment we see. Limit national debt to a percentage of GDP. This still allows for a budget deficit for emergencies, but caps how much it can be abused. 15 years ago I would have set the max to 50% of GDP, but we blew past that in Obama's first 4 years, and now it's well over 100% of GDP. I would support a cap that requires a 10% reduction in the cap every 5 years until it gets down to 50% of GDP.

Poland has been quite effective operating with a balanced budget requirement in their Constitution that caps debt at 60% of GDP. Their legislature passed a law to cap it at 55% to give them headroom for a dire emergency, but they operate at 55%.
