That was Joan Osborne unless Ariana Grande made a similar song (I've not heard a single song of hers ever).

ETA: I was completely wrong but that's how I remembered the song since I last heard it 25 years ago and looks like you're right.

I looked it up, and Joan Osborne's song is called What If God Was One of Us, and Ariana Grande's song is called God is a Woman, so she might have based it on Joan Osborne's song.
