In little 'ol Katy got my 3rd Seattle family seen today.
There have been about 10 California fams that we've registered since 2021.
All of them (except one) have fled the west coast states due to Covid restrictions (two families of firefighters who refused the jabs), and the rest because of political differences that made Texas a better option for them.
A patient of mine, who's a realtor, tells me Austin and Dallas are seeing more of an influx.
So, we knew this was happening. We knew folks all over were abandoning blue states where Covid or politics were a determining factor.
But...i'm just curious...based on my limited data, in an area that's outside a bigger area that's not even the states's biggest spot for transplants, plus other states we hear families are moving to (Florida, Tennesse), honestly, what is going to happen?
I mean, i've got two large families now from Seattle and a lot from California and other folks around here, i'm assuming, have some too...and we aren't even in the hotspot.
What's the endgame here?
I would guess red states get redder and blue states bluer?
Is that the expectation?

There are families fleeing blue states. Then there are companies fleeing blue states and dragging dem voters with them. Tough to tell how it shakes out overall.

So far that has been the result. Liberals from Cali are going to Colorado. AZ, GA, and NC are getting a lot of libs as well in the tech sector. Texas is getting them too but they are outnumbered by conservatives. Florida is overwhelmingly getting conservatives.

The companies are the main problem. Because those workers didn't leave because of policies, but to follow the job. Whereas in the family situations, the odds are least 70/30 that to choose to leave such an idyllic climate state like CA means it is politically and policy motivated, and they help Texas.

Lol, yeah. I get that.
I guess i mean my little 'ol office that is seeing this amazing (for us) amount of folks fleeing rather than moving.
And do they love Texas. I tell them they're about in the ugliest part (i'm from the Hill Country and don't do pine trees). But they're so happy to be here.

Very cool. Hope the trend continues. I'm a Hill County guy too. Home in Georgetown, ranch in SE corner of San Saba Co. Most of my transplant neighbors in Gtown from the coasts are pretty cool and came here for the right reasons. Anecdotal, but I hope it holds out.

Observations from my Austin area family.

1. Rich people from the northwest are moving to the Austin area. Many of them can be easily found because they are painting their houses black. Quaint for Seattle, not smart for Texas living.

2. Many rich tech execs in their 30s are paying for concierge medicine in the Austin area. MD's offering these services in the past were reasonably priced and might have had a several months waiting list. Now, the waiting list can be up to a year and prices have increased.

3. Many of the people moving from CA in the area my family is in tend to come from East Bay or NorCal. They talk about drying up industry and housing too expensive.

We are polarizing geographically because the progressive left is absolutely intolerant and oppressive once they have dominant power, and can't deal with not having power where they are a political minority. It is the nature of their religious ideology.

So, as a nation, we will waver back and forth over whatever contemporary issue sways a handful of remaining marginal states and a few marginal districts.

The instability of switching back and forth between incredibly polarized federal policy in the executive branch will become a serious problem as it affects social and economic stability. Nobody will be able to make long term plans and everyone will enrich politicians and lawyers fighting to control and flip that policy switch.

Again, conservatives by nature change slowly so it is the progressive left drivibg the polarization.

I say this with all seriousness... and hope it is wrong, but

Within 20 years there is going to be some kind of hot war and you don't want to be in blue states and even purple blue lean states when that happens. I think in the back of people's minds they get it and it makes no sense to stay in a state with people who hate you and want to strip you of earnings and your livelihood.

one would hope that if the GOP is smart they will focus on controlling the local school boards in Florida and Texas and try to convert as many leftists to conservatives over the next decade.

The out-of-state newcomers in my neighborhood were the first to put up Beto and "Mothers Against Abbott" signs.

Many transplants will still vote blue here. They are too stupid to see that their politics are part of the very problem of why they left.

And I'll bet they're still up.

If you drive in Round Rock, Austin, Cedar Park areas and you dont see a NY or CA license plate you're not looking. I have 2 families from CA and 1 from central NY just on my street.

I have two relatively new arrivals from Commifornia on my block, one set is AF, the other was from San Diego and had some family already here. The ones from San Diego are breeders and had to leave due to housing prices and affordability. The other couple are non-breeders. Both are very nice but I haven't broached any political talk so can't vouch for their leanings. No Beto signs though. They still actively talk to us despite my Come and Take It flag so they can't be too liberal or just the sight of the flag would likely make them wet their pants.

I live and work in Austin (Big Tech). I can confirm 95% of my colleagues that came from the West Coast vote Democrat and think Biden is doing a great job "considering the bad hand dealt him".

Back in 2010-2012 timeframe I lived in Austin and would go to happy hours with my ex and her coworkers fairly often. A lot of Michigan grads that moved to Texas for work espousing liberal politics seemingly without the ability to critically think on why they had to move over 1k miles from home for work. The cognitive dissonance made me want to drown kittens.

From what I can gather, the incoming people are mostly conservatives and voting red at basically the same or greater rate than existing native Texans. Texas is getting more red, not less.

NW Travis county. Had a pair of lesbians move in down the street. CA license plate and Beto sticker of their car. Don't get the appeal of small town Texas for them.

The net result is like the movie Independence Day. They are like locusts and they travel to new locations and turn them into crime ridden sheet holes and then they move on.

They turned AZ and GA from swing states into blue states.

Just a small anecdote, but the three people from my 100-or-so employee engineering firm in suburban Seattle that moved to Texas vote solidly red.

Remind these folks, that if they keeping voting for blue imbeciles like Biden, the **** their fleeing will show up again at their doorsteps, and there won't be anywhere else to go. Tell the wife Karen twice, so you make sure she understands.
