Trump is not a viable candidate, nor is anyone else unless we get the cheating resolved in swing states.

Mail-in ballot cheating will be the doom of whoever runs for President in 24.

Hopefully lake can pull it off in Arizona and address their voting system. That'd help in at least one purple state

Yes. And this is a perfect example of Trump vs. DeSantis actions.

Trump spent the past two years complaining that he lost, and suing trying to win pointless lawsuits.

DeSantis spent the past two years acknowledging what caused the loss, not complaining, and addressed the issues so that they wouldn't happen in his state in the future.

Yah, how is Trump supposed to address the issues from his living room couch. Desantis addressed the issues in office...Where Trump should be right now.

Apples and Oranges.

Great, in the same vein, democrats should take the gloves off and gerrymander every state they have, just like how every republican state is doing.

That way you'll never have to worry about the House ever again.

Trump could have played the silent kingmaker with candidates that are in the same mold as DeSantis. Outside of Lake, there hasn't been. Instead, he's encouraged the past two years of making everything in the Republican Party about himself, including these midterms. The candidates he supports have similar deficiencies.

Dems can and do gerrymander where they can, so much so that NY's Court of Appeals had to have their maps redrawn.

In an unrelated note, a lot of NY seats flipped this cycle.

Here's Sheila Jackson-Lee's district in Houston. Very odd shape, right?

Not really. That's where most of the plantation folk live, the ones just as dumb as she is. She does truly represent her constituency.

Right, it isn't gerrymandered, it's formed to ensure the right party wins every election.

Weak. Tell DeSantis that since he just turned Miami red.

If Walker had won, I don't think you would have accepted "Trump is a viable candidate because Walker cheated and won" as a thread.

You don't have a good pulse on elections. That's okay to admit.

"Texas's 18th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives includes much of inner city Houston and the surrounding area. It has been the Downtown Houston district since 1972. The current Representative from the 18th district is Sheila Jackson Lee.
The district was first represented by Barbara Jordan, the first black woman elected to Congress from the South, who was praised by many for her powerful presence and oratorical skills.[5][clarification needed]
Since the district was moved to Houston in 1972, it has voted for a Democrat in every presidential election. The district gave George McGovern 69% in 1972 and Walter Mondale 72% in 1984."

Wikipedia.

Looks like Dems held both houses at that time.

its shaped that way to have a black district. no matter how your draw it, its still going to be democrat. which is what texas GOP wanted.

its not really any stranger than 9th or 29th?

or the old 2?

in houston, Texas GOP made Fletcher's district a safe democrat district and jammed even more democrats in SJL and the other districts to make sure they had less swing districts and more republican safe districts.

Texas GOP? Are you sure? I am pretty sure Dems ran the state in 1972 when She-Jac's district was drawn.
BMX Bandit

100% sure. texas GOP drew the latest districts.

at one time, it was drawn ( before queen sheila) to have a black district due to voting rights act. that remains the case

now, Texas GOP wants the democrat districts, like 18, 7, 29, to be guaranteed to go to democrats, so there are less democrats in other districts. that guarantees more republicans in the house.

democrats do the same thing in the reverse in states they control. nothing wrong this this.

BMX is right. Consolidating democrats into certain districts makes other districts easier to win for Republicans. It helps maximize the Republicans in the Texas delegation but it does give strongholds where Dems can get re-elected over and over

OK, but the district is gerrymandered, initially by Dems and not changed by Reps, right?
GAC06

Looks like it's been changed 10 times since 1972, with all the most recent changes under GOP control

All district are gerrymandered. If you go back to when it was initially drawn, it was a circle, it looks nothing like it does today. But it was still gerrymandered. Initially, it was to make sure Black people had representation, now it's to make sure there as many Democrats and that district is possible.( Don't get me wrong, having the black representation is still on their mind, but it's not as important as it used to be based on a supreme court case having to do with the voting rights act)

They are drawing all these districts to obtain a specific result. That's the point.

You seriously think Dems can't pull another 10 House seats if they go full gerrymander? Ignoring how New York is forcing dems to use partisan maps this year? And do away with all those independent redistricting laws ?

Oh my poor summer child, just feel lucky dems aren't completely stooping down to the likes of you at this point in time.

Tell me about Illinois my dude.

Dems absolutely wield gerrymandering to their benefit. Just because your npr show *****es about republicans doing it more doesn't means Dems do not.

You think no GOP lead legislature has had the power to change the district in 50 years?
