someone else suggested we start a new thread focused on the results coming out TODAY.

Karl Rove stated Indiana begins reporting 1800 EST and they have one congressional district around Gary that might flip to GOP

if it does, it's going to be a great night!

also in Virginia there is the seat where Hung Cao is trying to beat the execrable Jennifer Wexton a leftist in Loudoun County, and Yesli Vega against the awful Abigail Spanberger in the middle of the commonwealth.

everyone post what you are seeing and hearing throughout the next 48 hours on the ground.

I'm pretty sure this thread is a week premature, given what the vegetable-in-chief has relayed about the Dem vote counting plans.

Remember, Republicans vote on Tuesday. Democrats vote on Wednesday.

And for all the feds reading this, yes, this is sarcasm. Anyone dumb enough to believe it shouldn't be voting in the first place.

interesting, so it seems that even part of Indiana does not report until 1900, and the part that is the bellweather.

oh well.

I am looking at NY being too close to call as a real sign of what is going to happen.

also Bolduc and Hassan being too close to call when polls close will be a huge sign.

the three seats in Northern Virginia (getting rid of Spanberger and Wexton would be HUGE)

Let the election denying begin!

Quote:

Election denier Stacey Abrams (D-Liar) is already spinning her upcoming gubernatorial loss by denying an election that has yet to conclude.

Although we see record turnout in Georgia, Abrams is out there blaming this loss on voter suppression and get this the ignorance of black men.

In 2018, Abrams lost her race to become Georgia's governor by a fairly substantial 1.4 percentage points 50.2 percent for Republican Brian Kemp, compared to 48.8 percent for Abrams. The difference was also a fairly substantial 55,000 votes.

Nevertheless, Abrams refused to concede and continued to insist she won. In fact, four years later, she still hasn't conceded, even as she launched a rematch against Kemp.

Well, now the insufferable Abrams is getting walloped in the polls. In the RealClearPolitics polls of polls, she's losing by an average of 8.1 points. Some polls have her down by double digits. The President of Earth is staring dead in the face of a straight-up humiliation and the end of her career as a political superstar.
Quote:

Well, no one ever claimed Stacey Abrams was intelligent or honest. Oh, she's shrewd and mercenary to her corrupt core. But honest and intelligent? Yeah, no. Because here's Earth President Abrams pre-blaming her upcoming humiliation on voter suppression in an election that's seeing … record turnout:
Quote:

While the polls are always going to tell the story you want to see, what we know is that the untold story is that this is a tight race, it is neck and neck, and we believe that we are on a path to victory if we can get all our voters turned out and if they can navigate the difficulties put in place by [Governor] Brian Kemp and [Secretary of State] Brad Raffensperger, to not only game the system but to suppress voting in the state of Georgia.

But here's what she said immediately before the quote above to explain away the polls that show a shellacking is on the way:
Quote:

The pollsters who are polling Georgia are looking at a state that looks like Indiana, not a state that looks like Georgia, where we have seen record turnout from African-American voters, record turnout from Latino and API voters. We are seeing a dramatic increase in participation, including 500,000 people who voted early [and] who did not vote in 2018.
So in her first breath, to explain away her terrible polling numbers, Abrams talks about record minority turnout. Then, in the next breath, she says the vote is being suppressed (remember, I reversed the quotes above).

And just like that, election integrity is a Dem issue again and electronic voting is insecure.

Quote:

The midterms face a bevy of digital threats, from stolen Twitter accounts to hacked election websites, that could spark chaos, confusion and unrest that last long after the polls close.

The 2020 presidential election was rife with allegations of voting machine hacks that were later debunked. Yet there are real risks that hackers could tunnel into voting equipment and other election infrastructure to try to undermine Tuesday's vote.
Quote:

The U.S. officials charged with protecting election security say they're watching for threats from multiple groups and countries. And in recent months, social media companies and cybersecurity researchers have identified Chinese influence operations aimed at the elections.
So now it is China and not Russia?

Quote:

"More attention to securing voting systems hasn't eliminated critical technical and human threats to our elections," said Matthew Weil, executive director of the Bipartisan Policy Center's Democracy Program. "And this cycle is practice for 2024."

The federal government has worked since 2016 to improve coordination with state and local officials on everything from fixing digital vulnerabilities to promoting trusted sources of information. Biden administration officials say that's one reason that they've seen less foreign interference than in 2016.

But as CISA Director Jen Easterly, whose agency leads federal election security efforts, told reporters recently, "The current election threat environment is more complex than it has ever been." She cited the ways that multiple different threats, from cyberattacks to disinformation to the harassment of election officials, are overlapping.
Quote:

Hackers have one relatively low-tech tool for knocking campaigns off balance and disrupting voters' access to reliable election information: forcing websites to crash using automated tools that simulate massive floods of people visiting those sites.

A few major tech companies, including Cloudflare and Google, offer free protection against these "distributed denial-of-service attacks" to election offices and political campaigns, but many websites remain unprotected.
Quote:

The specter of targeted account hijacking isn't theoretical. Twitter already experienced a massive hack in July 2020 in which a teenager took over accounts belonging to politicians, business leaders and other celebrities including then-candidate Joe Biden. And now Twitter owner Elon Musk's initiation of mass layoffs has sparked fears that the cuts could hit the company's security team.

"Account security is especially important in an election it would be disastrous for candidates to turn into sock puppets," said Eddie Perez, a board member at the OSET Institute, a nonpartisan election technology nonprofit. Perez was formerly a director of product management at Twitter overseeing a team that handled "civic integrity" issues.
Quote:

States have spent years upgrading the security of their voter registration databases, which form the bedrock of a well-functioning election system. But no technology is perfectly secure, and vulnerabilities likely remain in some states' networks. Russian hackers breached Illinois' voter database in 2016, and Iranian hackers penetrated a state database in 2020.
Thought that was supposed to be addressed by ERIC?

Prepare yourself for this one. Massive eyeroll may cause them to be stuck.

Quote:

At least seven states and Washington, D.C., use wireless modems to transmit unofficial election-night results to their central offices. These modems use telecommunications networks that are vulnerable to hackers, and malicious actors could exploit them to tamper with unofficial vote data, corrupt voting machines or compromise the computers used to tally official results.

"We now have to worry about anybody getting access to a communication network that is fundamentally open," Matt Blaze, a Georgetown University computer science and law professor who studies voting systems, told POLITICO last month.

Impossible. We've been hearing squealing on F16 for weeks on end now that it is fully secure and anyone who believes otherwise is an "election denier."
