This is going to be the issue. Without the checks, anyone can pretend to be anyone, and despite the misconception, most journalists make low wages. Local journalism will likely take the biggest hit, since they can barely afford to employ people to start. Already talk in our company about letting the checks lapse.

The big national networks will shell out for it, basically creating an even more elite group of Blue Checks.

So long as I can view Tweets for free, I am not going to purchase a Blue Check. I have sent one DM in almost 4 years.

I can live without it. So take my Blue Check if you must.
