Section 3.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

That's why they are gaslighting the public about an insurrection.

They plan on using the 14th amendment to keep him from running.

Trump does not adhere to every command that the CFR and Trilateral Commission issues…..that is the reason he is persecuted unmercifully

In short, he has not been a team player

As far as I'm concerned it's better for us. We do not need trump running in this election and likely would lose again if we do. He's tainted. We need him to fade into the night before he does damage to a real candidate like desantis

Perfect world, he tries to run, is denied the chance with this BS, and DeSantis runs and uses the ticked off base to win in a landslide.

So, now, all of a sudden, the Constitution matters to democrats.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

They already blew their chance when they failed to convict trump of these charges during his second impeachment

It's better if Trump doesn't run. It's not better if the reason he doesn't run is because of lunacy like this. He didn't participate in an insurrection and was acquitted in his Senate trial.

I'm a big DeSantis supporter, but the reason for Trump not running shouldn't be for some half-baked nonsense like the Democrat insurrection claims.

The rule of law should still be our guide, not dictates by the rule of Democrat unhinged child like emotional vengeance seeking temper tantrums.

This theory has been posted before.

Not happening.

For starters, it doesn't even apply to a president. So putting aside the difficulties in proving and even enforcing disqualification criteria, on its face, this section cannot be used against Trump.

Kind of hard to do when he told people to peacefully assemble in front of the capital

That most centrist republicans are just as emotional as dems and vote on their feels the same way.

It's disgusting.

Trump lost two elections by 10 million in the popular vote. He lost the White House, the senate, and the house twice. Dems would love for him to run again, he's the MVP of their party.

But he didn't do that.

It doesn't matter if he did.

things the insurrectionists can't be:

Senator
Representative in Congress,
elector of President and Vice President,
any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state,

You can make an argument, but a weak one, that president holds an "office under the united states." But its clear the drafters didn't mean president or they would have listed it.

where the person must have previously taken an oath:

as a member of Congress,
as an officer of the United States,
as a member of any state legislature,
as an executive or judicial officer of any state

There is no legitimate argument that president is an "officer of the US." that term has definite meaning under the constitution and it does not include president. its those appointed by the president. been the case since post-bellum US.

The popular vote winner wins 91% of the time. 54 times out of 59 elections.

False dichotomy. The representatives in this representative republic have always been elected democratically.

Trump was not and is not an insurrectionist.

And it does matter what he did or didn't. It's false.

Look up!

The point is flying over your head.

This part of the constitution cannot be used to disqualify Trump from anything. This is all pundit, pushing horsesheet theories to make people think Trump can't be president.
