Dave Smith has made similar arguments on Joe Rogan in the past about other wars. He's a huge anti-war, stop spending on the military, the West needs to stop meddling around the world type of guy and viewing Ukraine through that very tinted lens.

There's certainly something to that world view, but I think in this case, he's fallen for the Russian gaslighting about being provoked by the West.

NATO and European Union expansion is a pretext to Russian imperial/ethnic proclivities that have existed in Moscow for centuries before those organizations were an idea.

That Russia has been doing exactly what the US is being accused of doing in the video, except then they invaded and started slaughtering innocent civilians with their military wholesale.

I would say the incentive was watching the Taliban dragging their balls across Biden's face in Afghanistan.

Putin saw that and knew the ranks of the spineless had control again in DC.

Open road to taking everything he wanted.

He knew who was running this country:

Biden's first option on any foreign policy crisis: run like hell...

What he didn't count on was a Ukrainian leader who decided to stand up his nation's manpower and fight for his country.
