It seems reasonable that someone wants to inflict maximum pain on Europe and to possibly ignite WWIII in Europe by spreading the Russia - Ukraine conflict. I really do not see how that would benefit the U.S., but Brandon and his Admin do not have the U.S. Best Interest at heart. So maybe we did it.
It benefits the US because the EU would become fully dependent on American energy, food, and commodities.
Somehow our model is to make our friends weak so we can be strong.
The US selling more gas to Europe is certainly a benefit to the US resulting from the invasion. Without it, Europe would have happily kept buying Russian gas. Now, however, regardless of the outcome in Ukraine, Europe is going to diversify its energy sources and not leave itself so vulnerable to Russian blackmail. The US didn't need to engage in sabotage to do this, particularly of two pipelines that had been delivering no (in the case of Nordstream 2) or very little (in the case of Nordstream 1) gas to Europe of late.
This was also intended to make Norway and Poland nervous, as the recently opened pipeline between these two countries runs in close proximity to the Nordstream lines.
