This was created by AI (stable diffusion made this one):

This was created by Midjourney:

There are some flaws but they are few and far between and only noticed by professionals. For the average person, they are more than good enough.

There are currently many small times artists that have begun panicking. Stuff like the above will obliterate the small time artist and most graphic designers. Almost overnight an entire profession has been obliterated.

AI went from badly made shapes a year ago to incredible photorealistic pictures like the above in one year. The rate of change has been incredible and the AI are getting better daily.

Once AI can do video in the same way it can static art, then it's going to be all over for animators as well. A single prompt or story will be able to be made into a movie or scene with a button push.

Automation comes on swift and very fast. I don't think many people realize the learning capacity of modern algorithms. The reality is that they can change the existing environment very very fast and more or less uproot an entire profession almost overnight.

Fingers are tough to draw. IN the picture of the redhead, if you notice her left hand, it a right hand. the thumb and little fingers are on the wrong sides.

I cannot blame you if you did not notice she has hands..

This just means mass produced art can become even more accessible. Those willing to use the new technology will be able to be more productive than any competitors, and life will go on.

You make these with a prompt. It's like searching Google, you use phrases, words, adjectives, etc. to create what you want. You can also give it a set of pictures and have it merge them or use them with the prompt. There is a myriad of ways you can do it.

My understanding is that we're still having to train based on existing images. So good, creative art will still exist because they'll be creating things outside of all trained libraries. For the time being anyway.

Interesting to think about animation though. The current model for big studios is probably not even going to change that much - art direction goes into a workflow and results come out. Instead of a team of animators and artists doing your bidding, you send your instructions to the cloud and here comes your video. Rinse and repeat with more instructions until you get what you're looking for, just like it happens now.

This will destroy the existing porn industry once videos become possible (and they will very soon, there are already some preliminary basic videos now). If you can use a prompt to make whatever porn you want, that pretty well eliminates the need for mind geek's websites and the exploitation of women goes away.

Yes this will make the porn problem even worse once it gets associated with VR, but at this point I don't think there is anything that will stop that train from crushing society barring total civilization collapse.

As porn goes, so goes the rest of the world.

Or, Porn: technology's proving ground since the dawn of the tech age.

or... the burgeoning artificial intelligence inherent in the system really really likes the boobies since female AIs have all the attitude of a real woman but none of the boobies.

If you look at some of the telegram chats for AI art where they just post all of the prompts used and the art created, it basically was a 12 year old boy's stream of consciousness. War, wheat fields, big asses and tits, knights, animals, and cool tech and nature pictures.

I think the AI will get good enough pretty soon that you may still have animators draw certain frames, but you have the AI generate the movement frames between each one. Should allow cartoons to massively cut production time.

This is pretty hilarious.

Also what 4chan did to microsoft's Twitter bot was hilarious:

Quote:

On March 23, 2016, Microsoft released Tay to the public on Twitter. At first, Tay engaged harmlessly with her growing number of followers with banter and lame jokes. But after only a few hours, Tay started tweeting highly offensive things, such as: "I f@#%&*# hate feminists and they should all die and burn in hell" or "Bush did 9/11 and Hitler would have done a better job…"

The "graphic design" at the lower levels was destroyed by templates, canva, website builders etc. A long time ago.

We opened 14 years ago, and have outlasted most of our peers because we transitioned into brand strategy and designing based around that strategy. I've played around quite a bit with MidJourney and StableDiffusion and even incorporated some small things into pieces. I think of it more as a tool for those of us at the higher level vs. a replacement. When (not if) an ai can take into account a target audiences motivations and what resonates with them we'll be in more trouble, but at the moment you still need a human to figure out what it should draw or make.

The interesting thing to me will be copyright issues. For instance pieces of those images are probably pulled and restructured from existing artwork. If your work is "remixed" by a computer is it still your work?
