I think it really got to him knowing that Clinton was dirty but couldn't prove it.

What do Art Briles and Ken Starr have in common?

Both converted from CofC to take jobs at Baylor.

He was also a Judge on the DC Circuit, Solicitor General, and front runner for a SCOTUS seat losing out to Souter instead. The knock on Starr back then was that he wasn't conservative enough. So we got Souter instead.
