Anyone have a montage of "experts" telling us inflation was transitory? In a serious world jokers like Powell and Janet Yellen would have been fired.

And where is Janet Yellen hiding these days as the administration she is part of as Treasury Secretary continues to spend away and propose even more in the face of the highest inflation in a generation.

Yes, the problem is that the folks in charge will not really be able to deal with doing what is really necessary which is a 300 bps jump at a time. 100 is a lot for the Fed and yes it's not catching up with what's really going on but it is a step in the right direction.

The Fed should have been selling off bonds (that were purchased as part of the QE program) back in 2014 through the start of COVID in Feb 2020. But here we are with a $9 trillion portfolio, which is inexcusable.

On top of that, as noted above, interest rates were kept abnormally low way too long.

All the Fed doves and Team Transitory should be fired and as a group permanently ignored for anything but economic comedy.

It should be noted this a prediction not something that has happened. FOMC meeting is next week. Chances are rising for a 100 point rise but 75 points is still the overwhelming odds right now.

Whether 75 or 100 the fed is way behind on this.
