Why would a political party let someone with severe health issues run for office?

Shouldn't the party have some sort of vetting process for candidates that represent that party?

Of course voters should also take candidates' health into consideration, but as we saw in 2020, people don't seem to care about the physical or mental health of the people for whom they vote.

Lipomas are benign fat deposits. They can cause discomfort and maybe some nerve issues if it were pressing on something. Some people will go years without removing them.

I wouldn't use it as a reason not to vote for a candidate. He lost a ton of weight and likely it has become very obvious. A lipoma won't shrink because of weight loss.
