Did anyone else catch Herbstreet say "c-h-i-n-k in the armor" yesterday during gameday and wasn't there an employee fired from espn a few years ago for the exact same offense?

Does his "woke" quotient overcome the offense or have they lestened their rigidity?

edit - I sure didn't contemplate that this word would be blocked.

While, in my no-professional yet personally highly regarded opinion, the original dustup was vastly much-ado-about-nothing, I can see some feathers being ruffled when using "c-h-i-n-k in the armor" when referring to an fella with the last name "Lin."

It makes it harder to describe what makes certain tanks more vulnerable, or how a shot went though an ironclad, or how HMS Hood was abruptly sunk.

Herbstreet is clownshoes. The day he called Austin a "cesspool" because we wanted Charlie Strong fired because he sucked, while Herbstreet insisted it was because he was "black"-- I officially wrote him off as a gas lighting tool.

I mean, the person from ESPN was fired because they posted that phrase over the photo of Jeremy Lin (an Asian American basketball player). There was a direct connection that was offensive, not just the phrase itself.

I wasn't aware of that form. I've only heard it with the "ly" attached to it. That was back in the '90s. I was amazed that people would show their outright stupidity by complaining about the word's usage. I mean, it is one thing to say, "hey, let's pick another word just because a very similar sounding epithet has been used by stupid people now for a long time..." But to actually criticize someone for a word's usage says, "I have an IQ well below what should qualify me to be listened to by anyone unless I need help going to the bathroom."

I saw that segment and thought it was really kind of weird. I'm not sure they had to do the little shuffle through but got to change it up I guess.

The crying thing with Herbstreit last year really kind of turned me off of him. Not that he cried, but what he was crying about. I don't like him as much as I used to but I still think he's good at the play-by-play and I do still watch parts of game day.

As much as I dislike herbstreit (the fake crying and when he trashed Kyle field), this is not the same situation.

The ESPN headline from years ago featured Jeremy Lin, this the Ch*nk was a pun based on a racial slur.

Saying ***** in the armor is a phrase and by itself isn't the same thing.

I haven't EVER seen that word used as the actual slur it is supposed to be in real life. It has to be decades old now. Maybe around the Korean War vets it was a problem.

Now, censoring it out of context is just stupid and lazy.
