That sounds familiar. Did they just cut and paste what ERCOT put out a month or so ago for Texans?

If ERCOT said a few days earlier "in the future we will power the grid with unicorn farts and fairy dust" it would be similar.

Honestly, we need to figure out a way to get these EV drivers to pay for their usage of the roads, that us gas drivers are paying....further, if you're going to buy an EV, you should be required by state law (TX) to install enough solar panels to charge it....thatll deter some people from buying EVs and putting further strain on our grid....

College grads, at least early on, are still captives to their professors' dumb ideologies. It takes a few months/ years to discover the real world.

Funny thread.

V2G will also lead effectively to more cycles on the batteries in cars, which down the road will probably result in warranty type/early replacement problems.

If one thinks of a BEV as a huge network of something like 2,000 D-cell batteries, there are always those that are filled last and discharged first. The EV companies don't discuss any more than they have to, but it has to be the case to simplify the cooling/circuitry designs. Those filled/refilled most often, then adding an extra 400 cycles a year for unicorn fart grid sustainment v2G, will just wear out that much faster.

The law to do that was passed in the Infrastructure Bill. At this point, we are just waiting on the Federal Govt to figure out how they want to implement it. It's called the Vehicle Mileage Usage Fee.

They also passed a law that will require you to blow into a breathalyzer every time you get into your car and then you will have passive AI scanning your face full-time that if it doesn't like what it sees will shut your car off and not let you drive it.

Good luck!

Exactly. Some posters haven't thought any of this bull**** through at all. And from what I hear EV car batteries are somewhat expensive.

California shares a grid with the rest of the US. I was told that this prevented all black outs.

...and in unrelated news, California is moving to ban gasoline powered vehicles, so EVERYONE can have an EV in their garage, not being charged.

Once V2G is a thing this will actually solve the problem.
So let me get this right - I have an EV and I will plug it in, and INTENTIONALLY decrease my range, so I can put power back into the grid? Only to have to plug my EV in again later to I can charge my EV so I can get where I want to go? Oh boy!

I'm sure the next answer is "OH! We'll use AI when you are plugged in so we optimize the amount of charge you have in your EV. No worries, you will be able to get to work tomorrow!"

Except humans and life are not predictable. What happens when you decide to break from your normal routine and you want to drive further? Or an emergency happens? Or, God forbid, you want to go on vacation and drive across the country?

This is a joke, right?

By the time V2GLBQTxyz is "happening", every single current EV will have gone through the battery lifecycle and be trash with who knows how much money being spent on recycle plants that are horribly inefficient. Lots of new standards will be debated and not be decided on; bureaucracy at it's finest.

To top it all off, half the cars will be charged with Generacs running through the black-out periods and charging those minimal range EVs

This is so absurd you can't make this up. If this was a Babylon Bee story, people would say it's too unbelievable even for satire.

First, California bans gas-powered vehicles in 2030 whenever.

Then, within the same month, they issue this power grid warning and asks people not to charge their EV's because there's an electricity shortage.

This is insane. Didn't realize Idiocracy was a prophetic documentary.
Its not necessarily incompetence. To humanity hating environmentalists, the goal is to simply get rid of people. Make everything in California unbearable, and people leave. In their ****ed up minds, the problem is then solved.

It's absolutely about control. How much you can drive, when you can drive, etc.

It's about control, but the ultimate objective is to leverage that control to start exterminating vast swaths of the human population. These are things the WEF and it's cronies openly talk about.

I think I know which side you're talking about, but your statement is a bit ambiguous, you can read it both ways.

Green energy idiots marching to destruction for buying this bull*****

or

Non green energy idiots marching to destruction for not buying this bull*****

I mean both sides think the other is whack.
