They do not work well in the hot climates demanding AC use. It reduces the range and that is not mentioned. Additionally the charging burden to the grid will end up being a real deterrent.
I drive from NYC to Harrisburg PA, not an issue, not very local, also it's been hot af, but the AC is colder than everything but yet 1996 Suburban I drove in high school.
Additionally EVs are going to save the grid with instantaneous demand response.
